I'd say just about everything else matters more before looking at sos. I mean don't ignore it completely, but that's one bold statement. 

For instance, the Patriots this year have had the 3rd easiest schedule in history. 

The 2 teams with an easier schedule were the 1991 Bills, and 1999 Rams.

The Bills made it to the SB but lost to the Redskins. 

The Rams went the SB and won.
