I know the Chiefs have a terrible recent history in the preseason but the reality is that no one has looked worse so far (well maybe Buffalo and Cincy) than the Chiefs who were pounded 25-0 at home and 31-13 last week. There are some murmurs of concern and I think even if the coaches won't give a shit (which I believe they will give a shit btw) I think the players will look to avoid another embarrassment. There is a massive difference between losing close and competitive games and being smacked around like rags dolls which the Chiefs have been. The Rams are 2-0 and looking good, they are probably just waiting for the season now when they open up against Philadelphia. I feel the Chiefs will want this one far more than the Rams.
Buffalo pk
Different game, same story. The Bills offense has been just awful in their first two preseason affairs. A 1st team offense that looked strong in camp has spiraled and crashed so far in actual games. I think they come out strong in this one and not only that but they face a really bad defense on the road, which in this price range is one of the most dangerous bets in sports. The Jaguars 1st team defense stinks and so do their 2nd stringers. Every QB they have played so far in the preseason has looked good against them. I wouldn't be surprised if the Bills hang a fat number.
NY Jets -1
I'm not big on betting favorites after big wins but this line looks off. This is a neutral site game and I have the Jets 4.5 points better than the Giants to begin with but I have a tough time seeing the Giants give a shit here. They mailed in their 1st game preseason game and took their 2nd very seriously as they whipped the Bears but unfortunately they lost Terrell Thomas and also a backup corner to torn ACL's. Their secondary is in shambles and after just playing a dominate game I get the feeling they may not try too hard here as they just try to get through this one healthy for when the games actually count. Even if Coughlin plays the starters into the 2nd half I'm not sure mentally they will give it their all knowing a freak injury like what they just saw with Thomas can be devastating.
As I said I don't like betting favorites off big wins but the Jets are deeper and better than the Giants. I am big on Sanchez this year and McElroy has looked very good as a backup. I will take Sanchez and McElroy over Eli and David Carr any day.
Atlanta +3.5
I missed on the 4 but will still take 3.5. Pittsburgh played their strong game of the preseason last week on national TV off a bad loss against the hyped Eagles. I would be shocked if they put in nearly as much effort this week. Last week was their regular season tuneup and they proved they are ready to go. The Steelers are also a veteran team with little turnover, their roster is set and they are probably just looking to stay healthy.
The Falcons have yet to win a game in the preseason but don't be fooled as the backups have given games away but the 1st stringers have played great going up 17-0 in the 1st game and 10-3 in the 2nd. It is a small sample size but under Mike Smith the starters have played well into the 3rd quarter in the Falcons' 3rd preseason game and have won all three. I also think this is a bit of a "where are we at game" for Atlanta. This team was exposed as a major fraud last year by the Packers and have made a lot of changes to improve. This should be a good test to see how far they have come against a team that made in to the Super Bowl last year.
Looking at a couple more but hoping for some price moves.

I'm shocked you like the Jets here. The Giants want this game much more than the Jets. If there was a spot to go big on a preseason game this is it. You should've read some of the quotes from the Giants players about this game. They feel disrespected by all of the hype the Jets have gotten the past 2 years, if they don't collapse vs the Eagles in the 4th quarter GB doesn't even make the playoffs. They're tired of all of the back page coverage and headlines the Jets get. When the Giants are on the back page it's usually bad news.
Jason Tuck was saying they will play this game w/a different intensity level vs the Jets. Eli is a top 5 QB, not sure how you can compare to Sanchez. To much is being made of Thomas, I keep hearing their strengths are the DLine and CB. Are people serious? QB's in the NFL are like starting pitchers. They will go as far as Eli takes them, if he stays healthy the Giants will be right there competing for the division. Take any starting QB out in this league and their season is all over but Thomas...... c'mon people.
I'm from the area and read the local papers and WFAN the sports radio station. Mike Francesa was at Giants camp all day last week and should've heard some of the player quotes about the upcoming Jets game. Ryan said he wants to shut out the Giants and Eli just laughed and said we'll be ready for their D etc etc. The Giants want this game much more than the Jets and don't want to beat them but beat them bad. Far from a neutral site, unless Jet fans are buying Giant season tickets it'll be 90% Giant fans in the building.
Eli will play most of the game. Giants not only win but win big in what I believe is the perfect spot. Anyway GL Mac, always a pleasure.

while agree the Jets may not be a side to go big on, I completely disagree with you here in regards to the Giants being a good play, 165. Giants on a short week and just had that awful injury happen last night with guys reportedly tearing up in the locker room when they heard about Thomas's injury. This team is getting ravaged by injuries and literally cannot afford anymore, they're going to be completely vanilla. The Jets and Giants play each other during the regular season, that will be the game the Giants play with a chip on their shoulder, not this Saturday.

i think the falcons 1st half is a better bet than the game but they should still win that. pitt is banged up at corner and left tackle and that will cater to john abraham on the pass rush and the falcon passing game of white, jones, and douglas. im curious what the 1st half line will be but i see betting falcons for the 1st half as the best bet of the weekend.

BOL to you andarmac. Although I agree with some of your KC statements, you failed to mention anything about St. Louis. I would have rather you looked at both sides. Even if your right and KC wants to play with something to prove this game, the fact is they are not a good team this year. Steve Spagnuolo is still 8-2 in the preseason and really cares about winning these games as you can tell last week. I don't think they will just rollover.

While Rex won't want to lose this game to the Gmen its hard for him to give a shit. Giants may want this game more but you gotta throw most motivation angles out the window since its still preseason. McElroy has looked really good but with shaky O-lines coupled with a tremendous pass rush by Giants and the way Pitoitua has been playing, this game should be a sack-fest.
Total isn't out on my book but i'd guess it to be around 34-36 likely closer to 34. That being said I will be taking the Under.

Very good counter points from you I'd expect nothing less.
We don't disagree often and you obviously have a lot of information in New York but my gut says despite the talk the Giants will probably not give it their all. They are losing guys left, right, and center and after playing an "all out game" last week I just don't see the risk in doing so again with the injuries so fresh in their minds. Especially as raems pointed out this game is basically meaningless anyways because these two teams play each other in the regular season when the game actually counts. I'm not saying the Jets will give a shit either but whether both teams are caring or not caring I think the Jets are better and have better depth.

My bet on KC is because I believe 95% of the play is on KC.......if that makes any sense.
To me it is largely irrelevant who the other team is in this one because I expect the Chiefs to come out swinging. I do like the Rams this season though a fair bit but here at 2-0 and on the road I just don't think they will have the same drive as KC.

common sense tells me NYJ -2.5 is a solid bet.....NYG has depleted secondary....no real home field advantage....PLEX goin against his old team and the coach he hates.....the giants looked good monday nite....i always suspect a team that played really well on a nationally televised game to lay an egg the next week...or a team that plays shitty to do well....(happens alot)....gimme some insight.. see ur on it already....im my opinion its the easiest paly (if there were such a thing ).....on the board....ppl shood be poundin this....

There are 6 games currently on the board with a lower total than this one but I think this game should be lower. No matter what they say and who they bring in (Cutler/Martz) the fact remains under Lovie Smith the Bears' identity is to run the ball and play defense. Magic was supposed to happen when Martz came in last year but it was a big bust as the Bears offense finished 3rd worst in the league. In 6 preseason games under this system the Bears have scored 13, 10, 10, 9, 17, and 10 points. Their offensive line is still a major work in progress and I think points will be hard to come by.
Even though it is preseason I think the Bears defense comes to play this week after getting embarrassed on national TV last week and giving up 41 points. This is a good unit with a lot of veterans whose pride was most likely stung by the events of last Monday Night. Besides, the Titans still have no Chris Johnson and the thought of the QB trio of Matt Hasselbeck, Jake Locker, and Rusty Smith against a good defense is nauseating.

I was close to betting this one earlier but a little line movement has pushed me over the edge:
Cleveland/Philadelphia OVER 38.5
I have a feeling this one dropped a bit because some showers are expected tonight but looking at the forecast it doesn't look like it will last long or be a driving rain so I think it's an overreaction.
I have a sneaking suspicion the Eagles open it up against the Browns. Their offense really hasn't done much so far scoring just 13 and 14 points and the 14 they got last week were garbage time points. The 1st team offense was dreadful against the Steelers but that was on the road against a dominate defense, back here at home against a bad Cleveland defense is a completely different story. Reid has let these guys open it up a bit in recent years in the true tuneup games in Weeks 2 and 3 at home scoring 21, 26, 27, 16, 27, 24, and 33 points in going 6-1 to the Over since 2003. Those games were with worse offenses than the one the Eagles will most likely have this year. 5 turnovers last week is also more motivation to play well this time around. I didn't like Vince Young last week against the Steelers but at home against the Browns 2nd stringers I think he can move the ball. He's in a battle with Mike Kafka for the backup job and I look for both guys to play well and make a statement once Vick is out.
Cleveland should be good for some points too. McCoy has looked pretty good and although I still don't like the lack of playmakers this is a good matchup in a West Coast offense with a QB that completes a high % of short range passes. I am not sold on the middle of the Eagles defense. Yes, their defensive line and corners and deep and talented but I think this linebacker group is suspect and Kurt Coleman and Nate Allen (who the Eagles admitted is not 100% after getting hurt last year) do nothing for me at safety. The middle of the field should be open and that plays right in McCoy's hands.
