I guess the state and city really do not care about having that on their record. I don't care either way it's all a business to me. But the Chicago Bears like any long time franchise are an Illinois institution. You'd never guess the Arizona Cardinals are right there with the Bears as the oldest but they did not start in Arizona obviously. No I don't care if they were good or bad I would not want a franchise in my state dating back to the 1920s leaving on my account. Ouch. Says it all...

Hammond Bears? Wtf , that sounds goofy. Why the move? They just won a playoff game and getting some excitement back into the city lol ...

The fans don't want to chip in for a new stadium ( cant say I blame them ) the owners of the Bears don't want to foot the bill and of course we are talking serious big big moolah. What I do not understand is why doesn't the NFL come to rescue and do whatever needs to be done and the Bears pay them back. ![]()

This is a loaded question, because there are multiple hands of ineptitude involved.
1. Chicago's mayor Brandon Johnson.
2. Illinois governor JB Pritzker.
3. Bears ownership, the McCaskey's.
4. Bears president Kevin Warren.
In no particular order...
I'm seriously at a point where all I hear is circus music, whenever the subject of the Bears new stadium comes up.
Meanwhile, at least, Chicago got the Obama Presidential Library. It only cost 850 million dollars to build, more than double of the 300 to 350 million estimate when first conceived. Additionally, up to 200 million dollars in tax payer infrastructure improvement costs.
Also, there have been severe payment disputes from sub contractors who are reportedly still owed millions of dollars for their involvement in building this fine structure.
Welcome to Illinois, welcome to Chicago....
It's more than just the Bears leaving, most folks have left this city/state, and more have one foot out the door.
