The Seahawks released their weekly injury report today ahead of this week's matchup against San Francisco, and it included a name no one expected to see.
Seattle listed QB Sam Darnold's status for the game as questionable with an oblique injury.
While Seattle's running game has been the driving force of their offense, Darnold's efficiency managing the games and leveling up Jaxson Smith-Njigba has been what's taken them over the top.
It's not so much the injury itself that's concerning as it is the nature of how it appeared out of nowhere. This hasn't been a lingering issue, or at least hasn't been reported as such.
If Darnold can''t play on Saturday, could the Seahawks be in trouble?
Yes!

RENTON, Wash. -- Seattle Seahawks Pro Bowl quarterback Sam Darnold expects to play Saturday in the team's divisional round playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers despite an oblique injury that has him listed as questionable.
The injury occurred Thursday. Darnold said he "felt a little something" in the oblique on his left side while throwing during a routes-on-air period, and that he left practice as a precautionary measure.
"Just didn't want to push it," Darnold said. "Wasn't the day to push it. So that was it. Just came inside, got some rehab, and I feel like I'll be ready to go for Saturday."
The Seahawks listed Darnold as a limited participant.

Just got an update on this story......

Darnold had a 65 passer rating last time they played. Seattle still won by 10 and held the Niners to 3 points on 173 yards. Hawks have a tough defense.

3 of the 4 win was against Pete Carroll and Geno Smith as QB. And Seattle defense was no where near as good as this current talented group under Mike McDonald. Don't look at past records under different coach and difference scheme. Just look at what Baltimore defense without Mike McDonald? Anyway, to save my self time just read what I just wrote in another thread below:
The public think it will be a revenge game for 49ers. But Seattle shut down 49er just 2 weeks ago with one of the best weapon (Kittle) in the line up. Now he is out. Public tend to only see the last game. The 49er just won the defending champions. So everyone is back on the bandwagaon. However, in week 1, even with 49ers at full strength and Sam Darnold 1st game with the Seahawks, Sea was in the red zone for a game-winning score. If it wasn't for a great strip sack by Nick Bosa, Seattle already win that game. Now without Bosa, Warner nor Kittle, there's no way 49ers will be able to hang around. Also of note, traveling in the NFL can take a toll on a team. SF travel back-to-back weeks AND play again on a short week. I wouldn't be surprise if Vegas let have this game be close in the 1st half so the public can pound on the 49ers more in the 2nd half. But Seattle will shut down 49ers and run away in the 2nd half. I expect Seatttle by 17, 19 or at least 15 to cover all the teasers.

Much ado about nothing. NFL will fine a team for not disclosing an "injury" so this was likely necessary. It's amusing how many players get listed as "questionable" these days.
