First time I've seen something like that 2 point conversion. My understanding is that once the whistle was blown and the refs called it incomplete, the play is dead. How do they overrun that even though the refs blew the call to give points to the Seahawks? It's like we see many times, refs made the wrong call like when player is not down and runs for touchdown but refs blew the whistle they can't overrun and give points? When the refs blew the whistle, everyone stopped playing and the Seahawks player with no knowledge of recovering a fumble just casually picked it up. Even the Seahawks were lined up to kickoff the ball.
Also, it's my understanding that the team who fumbles the ball can't advance it? Otherwise players can purposely fumble into the end zone when stopped so their teammates can recover to get points
I don't know the exact technicalities of the rule book, but this goes against everything I thought I knew about the NFL rules

All scoring plays, or possible scoring plays are reviewed. Just like all turnovers are reviewed.

I understand that it is reviewed. However this play was blown dead so everyone stopped playing. Refs make bad calls all the time. Like I mentioned, I've seen many times they blow the play dead after review they overturned the call, but this was the first time I've seen them award points to a team

The Rams touched the ball after the advancement, then it went in and Seattle just picked it up to give it to the ref or whatever. Everyone was shocked, but since it was touched by LA, it can be advanced.

But the key thing is that the refs blew the whistle, play is dead. Every player stopped playing. No one attempted to recover a fumble due to the whistle

It was a bad call. You are correct. They blew the play dead, but I don't know if a review can over-turn that. Not interested enough to find out since I had Sea. ml. Got lucky!

It’s in the NFL rule book. If there is clear evidence of a ball being recovered after an inadvertent whistle, the ball is placed where the player picked the ball up. They cannot advance the ball. Since the ball was picked up in the end zone by Charbonnet, it was a converted two point play. That’s specifically in the rules of the nfl.

The NFL has a major issue with the “blowing the play dead” and with the whistle in general. There are “fumbles” that happen all the time after a play is blown dead and they are not awarded to the recovering team. The Jalen Hurts tush push against the giants was a fumble with a clear recovery that was not awarded to the defense. Anyone that wants to come on here quoting the rule book is in denial that the refs change the rules on the field on a weekly basis. You have fumbles happen on a regular basis where the whistle is blown dead, forward progress is deemed stopped and therefore the fumble is considered to be something that happened after the play was over. Onto my next point…
What has happened in the NFL with the rugby style push and the forward progress rule? For years they had deemed it a player safety issue and stopped the play when the ball carrier initially stopped moving forward. Now they are letting the guys play and the offense be allowed to push the ball carrier forward for sometimes 5-10 more yards. While I’m not necessarily opposed to the game being played this way, it has to work both ways. This means that forward progress should be taken away when the defense pushes the ball carrier backwards 5-10 yards. You cannot have a game where the offense gets every possible advantage and the defense gets none. This happens in almost every single game. Runner gets pushed forward and gets all the yardage. Defense pushes back or gets an 18 yard qb sack and they blow the play dead and say the progress is stopped and the play ended where the runner stopped forward progress. It’s ridiculous to have the game played this way. If the runner or qb gets wrapped up and dragged backwards for 10 yards then the ball should be spotted there. The rules have made the game an embarrassment because neither the fans or the referees understand what they actually are calling. I’m so sick of having the professional rules analyst tell the audience that the call on the field was wrong but yet we just have to live with it anyway. The integrity is completely compromised at this point. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
