NFL loves storylines they made this matchup for a reason. Sunday will mark the franchise's 30th anniversary after moving from Cleveland , and just so happens they slot the Browns in to participate in the Ravens home opener. As much as I love nostalgia and the old throwback uniforms , I kinda don't want to be reminded of the year when the Ravens sucked! However, this milestone certainly reflects on how much progress this team has quickly made over the years since relocating to Baltimore. Based on some of the pregame banter I can already sense this will be a chippy game. The Browns will come in looking to spoil the festivities.
I expect Ravens defensively to put up a better performance but I can't say that Flacco won't shred that secondary if given time. Ravens defense has potential to be better than last year's unit but that secondary is a work in progress right now. Losing Ar'Darius Washington has made an impact chemistry-wise. Malaki Starks is still green and finding his footing. Jaire Alexander, oh man don't get me started he got a ways to go. I don't expect the secondary to plug all the leaks just yet, might take another month until they have their BYE week.
Offensively, Ravens can definitely put up 30+ on any given day which was impressive last week when they didn't have Isaiah Likely and Pat Ricard. They'll be out again this week. I think they might miss them for this game. Browns secondary could be a scrappy bunch, Lamar may have to rely more on tight end Mark Andrew this week he was MIA in week 1..
Lastly, Tyler Loop seems like a decent kicker until he missed that extra point that ended up being one of many factors Ravens lost last week. Being a rookie, you have to wonder if he can come thru in the clutch in January if it comes down to a game winning field goal kick. Some of my off-season concerns seemed to be realized getting a glimpse of the Ravens meltdown versus the Bills granted they were a good team. the Browns aren't on their level.
Due to my assessment, I don't think Ravens deserve to be an 11.5 pt favorite right now not if their defense is going to play like the 1996 Ravens!! There have been quite a few celebration style tribute games in the past where Ravens energy didn't match the hype. The AFC Championship game a couple years ago is the most recent example they made it too much of a spectacle out of it like they were assured they were going to win. Don't get too cocky just because it's the Browns. Flacco will ball out for his homecoming game
Browns +11.5
Browns ml +550 *small*

Good luck today DK. It IS a lot of points considering the situation and it being so early in the season. A couple props I may play instead are Flax o OVER on passing yards (they could be behind and play catch up) and Lamar OVER on rushing yards (Browns have a pass rush).
Don't like betting against the Ravens, but they need to show something first.
Cheers,

I'd rather they not but I put in a ml just in case..
@PaulieWalnutz
Agreed. Browns seem to play them tougher at Balty than they do at home based on recent matches lol
@Lucky Luciano
This match is gonna be personal lol. I know Flacco wants to show Ravens he still got something. His team lost big last time against them when he was a Jet, but still put 300+ yard, 1 TD and 1INT in garbage time.
@Manowarfan1
Even the Browns know the huge point spread lol. They feel disrespected. Those are good prop bets good reasoning

Let's bounce back this week

Thanks bro, as a fan I will love it if they do. Just going by past indicators, this line seems to be a bit off. Ravens haven't been exactly dominant at home or in home openers lately in Lamar era. 4-2 SU, 3-3 ATS. Home openers used to be ez money in Harbaugh's earlier days when they had Ray Lewis and a stingy defense. I don't think they'll lose SU today but feel like it's gonna be a close game. GL

The Ravens remember how a year ago they held a 10-point lead in the 4th quarter of their home opener against the lowly Raiders but then squandered it and lost the game, 26-23. That loss followed a very close Opening Night defeat in Kansas City and left the Ravens with a totally alarming 0-2 record.
Today the Ravens are coming off a very close season opening road loss in primetime in which they again failed to gain any measure of playoff revenge, just like last year when they dropped the highly-anticipated playoff rematch to the Chiefs.
When you combine the almost historic collapse they suffered a week ago with the 4th quarter collapse they went through a year ago in their home opener against the Raiders, l think you wind up with a Ravens team that isn’t going to want to leave any doubt today come the 4th quarter.
I don’t believe the Ravens want anything to do with an 0-2 start when they have the Detroit Lions coming to town next Monday night. Nor do I think they’ll care to entertain the kind of chatter that will come if they even appear to struggle with the doormat Browns. The Ravens can either wallow in the pain of giving away last week’s game, or they can get pissed and take it all out on Cleveland. I’m betting they’ve chosen the latter.
I’m on the Ravens -11.5 and -12 -105. I also used them on all five of my Circa entries and as my Grandissimo selection.

Ravens my team, can see them blowing them out but getting lazy at the end and a backdoor cover. I'm off of them given Flacco back and the rivalry, etc...Maybe a FH OVER, Cleveland tends to strangely score more on the road.
