my guess is they throw him on the DL for 10 days with Stras coming back...they are cruising and have no reason to push. They will be getting back Stras, Trea Turner, Werth, and others very soon. Let Max rest up. Come back in Sept and have Harper back end of season....and go kill it. No reason to make a big deal yet of anything. I think they are playing everything safe with big time caution

I stumbled into one of your threads the other day and you were talking about fishing. Just curious, what area are you located and what lake do you usually fish. Bass fishing (LM), poker, and sports happen to be three of my favorite pastimes,

I live in Illinois(Chicago Burbs) do some Large Mouth hunting around here from time to time for fun. I fish tournaments in central Wisconsin with my brother. We came in 10th out of 60 boats last one, won enough money to cover entry fee's and costs. I landed two 3lb Smallies in the last 30 minutes of fishing. My bro got a 4lb large mouth with less than 10 minutes of weigh in. The rush was better than any bet/drug/drink imo

Well..Cocaine is a hell of a drug. HA. Just messing. 10th out of 60 boats is a dam good day. I've never caught a smallmouth before but from what I understand a 3lber is a real quality fish. I'd love to try it one day, especially with a drop shot. It's always a technique I've admired we just don't have the right fisheries around here. Very little deep water and very rare to find a hard bottom, but I'm in the swamps of south Louisiana. Anyways, just wanted to ask because I forgot to ask the other day and I think it's neat to here places I'll never fish. One other question: If you had to pick one "go to" summer time lure for largemouth, what would it be?

There's never just one lure you can depend on. In the Summer when it's hot, especially if it's sunny, largemouth sit in cooler water. The big boys sit deep. You can get em on drop shots, many fishermen never leave the house with out a drop shot rig, but you're going to catch a lot of smaller fish. Personally I'd rather bounce a heavy jig with a big plastic tail on it. Make sure its a weedless rig and rip it through the weeds. Any where from 10 to 20 foot of water, weed lines and drop offs are where the big boys sit.
If you are trolling the shore lines, large mouth will sit under mats/lillpads/docks. Most people will fish under the docks because it's accessible. I like to use a "punch rig", Google it. A heavy weight, heavy braided line, 40+ lb test. Punch through the mats and top water junk, the bass are under it because it provides shade. They will strike the lure out of reflex. Most importantly, these are areas where no regular fisherman will even attempt. Heavy weeds, pads, mats where you can get hung up on crap with regular lures or bobbers.

Ok guys, I must advise. My car found itself at a bar after work. I saw an old buddy and did some damage to my liver.

Good Luck
Had my 50,000 mile checkup a couple weeks ago in which my Dr. assured me the liver is one of the most resilient organs we humans possess. It's all good.

Very familiar with the punch rig. It's one of my favorite techniques here for big fish as the summers are just brutally hot and like you said, you have to find that shade and places where most fisherman wont dare to throw. We mostly only fish shore lines because like I mentioned there just isn't a whole bunch of deep water to be had. I guess my question was geared more toward what is your "confidence" bait then your "go to". Something you pick up and always feel like you'll get a bite even on days where conditions aren't ideal. Most of the time around here a 7.5" ribbon tail or a yamamoto senko just cannot be beat if you are looking for numbers and its almost always what I have the most confidence in. I know jigs with trailors catch big fish but something about fishing a big heavy bulky bait when I'm fun fishing just isn't fun lol. A do a small amount of tourney fishing here and there and that's when I'll pick up a jig or a creature with a 3/4 - 1 oz tungsten. Thanks for the replies. Here's to tight lines and winning wagers

Mann's jelly worm works every time , no matter the lake or time of year. Texas rig , slip shot , behind a bullet whatever. Old school plastic worm , ya just can't beat it.

Shouldn't covers "cover" all sports? The long shot odds would be amazing. And unlike many sports where each team or player determines his/her/their own destiny, if you aren't fishing the right locations as an angler, you can be the best in the world you just won't make the cut that day. Truly an "any given sunday" type of sport.
In response to marcig, I'm all about the purple Mann's jelly worm or a Culprit red shad. Definitely my favorites.
