I love that. I look for this all season long beginning in May. Specifically, I look for a pitching matchup that features one starter with an ERA north of 6.00 in his last 3 starts when he's up against a starter with an ERA below 2.00 in his last 3 starts (minimum 10 innings pitched for each). When I find this, I consider either betting on the struggling pitcher or I pass. I never bet on the "hot" starter against the "cold" starter.

Bryce Elder just matched his worst 3 start stretch of the season while Nola just enjoyed his best 3 start stretch. Do I think recent form will continue for both pitchers? Nope!

 In your experience, when these matchups occur does the struggling pitcher raise his game or does the hot pitcher lower his?

More often than not, BOTH!

Elder and Nola faced each other in Atlanta in Elder’s most recent start on September 26th. Elder struggled, getting pulled in the top of the 4th after giving up 3 hits, 5 walks, and 4 runs. Nola submitted a quality start, going 6 innings and striking out 8 while walking no one. The Phillies won 6-5 in a game that was meaningless for the Braves.

Gonna take a miracle for sure but you eat an elephant one bite at a time. One thing that is for certain is the bottom half of the Braves lineup needs to start producing. That are dead men walking at this point. An auto out.

Harper?  Some really bad management decisions this playoffs. 

With his numbers against Elder and his clutch history, Harper should not have had anything to hit in that at bat. There was a base open and a right handed bat on deck. That ab was the game changer. I was yelling don't pitch to him, but Snitker couldn't here me.
