Now that was a beat down especially with the heaviest guy on the team running 80 yards untouched to kill the spread! BetMGM made out !

From the post game ESPN article.....
After Indiana stopped Iowa on its final possession, Mendoza ran off the last seconds of the game by sprinting into the end zone, where he was tackled for a safety.
Cignetti called for the play, knowing Iowa had a timeout left.
“Coach said, ‘Hey, take a safety, run out of the end zone,’" Mendoza said. “When I got to the 2, I saw all zeros on the clock, but I kept going.”
Mendoza said: “I know I really cooked people's (point) spreads. My apologies out to them.”

The Belk Bowl wasn't close. What Mendoza did had nothing to do with winning the game or football in general. There are fluke plays in football, sure. This was not one. This was clearly intentional. He made his team more likely to lose by doing what he did and he did it on purpose. Up by 7 with 3 seconds left why would you sprint 40 yards towards the only place the other team can get 7 points? Especially after they were already in victory formation? They literally came out of victory formation to do it.

None of those games was remotely close to as bad as Indiana. Give me a break. The Bama game missed the over by more than a TD for most people. ??????

That wasn't even close. A blocked fg happens in football. Happened 3 times that day. That was at least a football play and made sense. Running 40 yards towards your end zone up by 7 with 3 seconds left is either mental retardation or corruption. Why would you run towards the only place the other team could get 7 points? He intentionally made his team less likely to win. What if he fumbled?

He was the fastest player on the field and wasnt close to being touched not his job to know when the clock hit 0 his coach told him to run to the back of the end zone

@MrFreedo
You have no clue what a bad beat is. You were lucky to be in the position you were in. Iowa was the right side in this game. Example of a bad beat is the Rams +3.5 last sunday. No comparison. Rams bettors correctly capped that game. Eagles blocked 2 4th qtr fg's and returned one for a meaningless td with no time remaining.

I saw the replay. The clock was at 0 way before he got to the endzone. There is no reason whatsoever to do this beside rig. Ive been betting fb for 30 years, this is the worse of all. Unbelievable. Indy long td before that was probably accident. The right side was iowa all game plus under. I took the under in that game . I saw 20-13 on ABC scoreboard. was hoping no OT.. Feel bad for those who took Indy -6 at the half.

I had Indy -7. Looked at last years wins and saw all were double digit except the Michigan game, 20-15. HA!!
It happens and sometimes your on the winning side and sometimes the losing. For me, lost a Push.
At least it wasn't on Dish and I didn't see it!!

that 2014 Bahamas Bowl with WKU -3.5 takes the cake--2 onside kicks along with that ridiculous lateral play-at least I got some back with the lateral play in the 2023 Miss St bowl vs. Illinois...that Indiana beat was bad but not even close...
