You can not have a 10-16 team conference and EVER have more than HALF of them finish in the top HALF of your conference..... That means: HALF of your conference teams will ALWAYS finish in the BOTTOM HALF... No matter who you hire to coach....
So do a reality check.... If you are in the bottom half, ask yourself, honestly, who can you displace from the top half.... I assure you it's harder than it looks.. You can't just grow a tradition by hiring the right coach.
I know that Bill Snyder did it, and am sure there others did that just dont come to mind. If you know of any situations, love to have you post them. It's just a very long shot IMHO.
