Anyone else wonder why OSU is so far ahead of MSU in the BCS standings? Is it simply because MSU lost to a 7-5 Iowa team? OSU's best wins of the year are unranked 7-5 Miami, 7-5 Iowa, 7-5 Penn State.. MSU clearly has the best win in #5 Wisky..
MSU 7-1 vs Bowl eligible teams, OSU 6-1.. according to Saragin, MSU has the best SOS of OSU/Wisky/MSU..
Just wondering why all the love for OSU as a shoe in for a BCS game while no one is giving Sparty a chance when their overall resume is actually better..

tOSU was preseason #2, MSU was unranked. tOSU's only loss was @ night, on the road against a ranked team who is 25-3 in their last 28 night games at home.... /thread

BCS has nothing to do with the quality of teams (besides the 1/2)
It's all about the $$$ and OSU is one of the top schools in generating that $$$ for attendance. Yes, as annoying and arrogant as OSU fans are, they travel anywhere. Why do you think they've been in the Fiesta Bowl so many times? Glendale is considered a suburb of Columbus, OH.

so because a team was ranked #2 pre-season, they deserve a BCS bid more than a team with an overall better resume..

I believe OSU didn't fulfill its ticket allotment the last 2 BCS bowl games.. I could be mistaken though..

Most of this crap doesn't make any sense..........especially talk about one team getting selected over another because their fans may or may not travel better........that should have nothing to do with it.

Ohio State lost at Wisconsin, not many teams could at Wisconsin right now (if any)
Mich St lost by 4 or 5 touchdowns to Iowa, a team that has been less than impressive most of this year
Mich St could have lost to Northwestern and Notre Dame and it took everything they had to win those games
there is no way Mich St would beat Ohio St on a neutral field in my opinion and no way they deserve a higher ranking than the Buckeyes (whose only loss is at Wisconsin)

Probably because Mig St gone blown the fuck out. And let's face it, we all know Mig St. is like the 23rd best team in the country. I am pretty damn sure an oddsmaker's poll would corroborate this.

I understand everyone's points.. but it seems a bit odd that a team is going to a BCS game to face a 9 or 10 win team (unless they face UCONN), when they haven't beaten a team with 8 or more wins all season long and who's overall SOS is worse than the other two teams in that conference..

Again though.. why do you think OSU is so much better? I for one would take MSU on a neutral field over the Buckeyes..
OSU has proven NOTHING this year, except they were over-rated at #2 to start the season.. beating three teams with 7 wins with an overall higher SOS shouldn't get you in over a team with the same record, better SOS and MUCH more quality win..

Simply the eyeball test is what I have to rely on to know tOSU is a better football team. Nobody can say for sure since they didn't play each other, but if you got that neutral field match-up of tOSU and Michigan St. you'd be quite happy about the 7.5-10 points Mig St would be getting

I would be with a TD or more on a neutral field..
but I leave you with this.. what team isn't impressive beating up on a bunch of 7-5 or worse teams?

agree. I remember the last time a ranked Michigan State team played a ranked OSU team at MSU. I think the Buckeyes beat them by 40

Certainly a debate can be made for both teams. Amongst the three co-champs, their head-to-head records are: MSU 1-0, Wisky 1-1, OSU 0-1. To me, that matters more than the fact that OSU would probably beat MSU on a neutral field, or the fact that OSU beat Sparty by 40, 2 years ago (which shouldn't factor into the conversation). BUT, and that's a big BUT, MSU's big showcase game this year at Iowa was a debacle, whereas OSU's loss was much closer at Wisky. My question is why does Wisky get the free pass to #5, there shouldn't be clear-cut winner, it should be one big-ass controversy, like it usually is and always will be until a tournament is announced. Fuck the BCS !!!

Because they beat team by 50 -60 pts, rather than falling behind and coming back to win close games. There's no debate between Wisky/OSU, Wisky won H2H and been very impressive last 3 wks. Can you honestly say MSU will beat Wisky now, given you had MSU losing to PSU this past wk. Yes, MSU won but that's enough to sway u that they'd beat Wisky now when Wisky just put up 70???
