This team has a QB that can't pass, slow running backs, a slow terrible offensive line as mentioned, underused and underdeveloped tight ends, unproven wideouts seriously lacking size, a return man thats a headcase and can't run a route, a new punter, a GREAT D line, solid linebackers though not near as fast as you mention, 2 new underclassmen corners and 2 safeties prone to injury......
that being said, GO BUCKS!!!
1. I didn't say the team has SEC speed, I said the defense has SEC speed, which they do.
2. The QB will have trouble passing this I agree.
3. Slow running backs? Well Boom is not that fast...but Saine holds several Ohio track records, and Berry had the fastest 40 time of any recruit in the country, so I don't know where you are getting that they are slow.
4. As mentioned the line is the Achilles heel.
5. Under used and developed tight ends in SPOT on, although if they do decide to use it, Stoneburner is one of the biggest mismatches in the country. A 6'6 TE that runs a 4.44. His offer list was as impressive as any recruit in the nation coming out of high school.
6. The wideouts are unproven but I don't know where you are getting that they are undersized. Dane and Small are both 5'11 which is small but they also have Posey (6'3) Washington (6'2) and Carter (6'3). Just like the rest of the country the other receiver are small and fast. Thomas 4.4 Jackson 4.3 Fields 4.4 Small 4.4-5...Dane is the only true "possession" receiver.
7. I HATE Small
8. Punter is new but not concerned about special teams AT ALL under Tressel. D Line is going to be outstanding.
9. The LB core is as fast as anyone will have in the nation. Moeller (before the injury) would have been the fastest lb in the Big 10. He was around 220 lbs and was more of another safety on the field. And although the starting core might not be exceptionally fast the two deep is insane. There are three lb's that run LEGIT 4.5's in Klein, Bell, and Sabino. Sweat is 4.6 guy and if they do use Hines at lb that is another 4.6 guy. Rolle is an absolute stud who plays with very good speed but unmatched intensity. Spilter and Homan are not as fast as the rest but they are exceptional football minds.
10. Corner will be tough
11. Safety's are prone to injury but Hines as a backup is amazing. That kid is an absolute STUD. So happy they moved him from lb to safety...hopefully he can stay healthy.
You must also not have read my post about my expectations for the season. You speak like you think I am putting OSU in the title game. I stated quite clear that I think they struggle mightily this year offensively and will finish second in the Big 10 to Penn State. I think they also lose to either Illinois or Iowa...one of the two.
But yes GO BUCKS...
O-H-
