Jay Williams also said UConn would play zone against Zona becuase they have no one to match up and contain Williams.
Calhoun hasn't played zone in his entire career. He might flash it once in a blue moon and they have played zone more this year than any year ever, but they are strictly man to man defensive team. You dont change who you are when you have gotten this far.

WTF are these guys thinking? Seriously.
These guys are getting paid a LOT of money to say some pretty stupid things. Makes you wonder if ESPN's dip in ratings is calling for them to instruct their voices to "stir the pot" and say stupid stuff that will get people talking.

Kemba actually traveled before the Ori rebound, but the refs don't call traveling anymore anyway. I give Kemba credit, he's smart enough to sell any possible call in his favor. They should really re vote for Big East Player of the Year. Ben Hansbrough had a brutal tournament. Best of luck to your Huskies the rest of the way Source..

I usually count the travels not called every game...I counted 3 each for both UConn and SD State, so they evened out..However, I think officials should call it tighter next year..You can watch almost any college game (or NBA for that matter), and see someone run without dribbling from the 3 point line..It's getting ridiculous, and I'd like to see it changed..

I actually read a couple of posts last night stating... "UConn won the game on a technical foul call".
Perhaps the most assinine statement of the tournament.
If UConn was up 4 or 5 and the call resulted in free throws that bumped the lead to 7 and then they hit a 3 on their possession to make the lead 10... then I'd buy it. SD State was up 5 when the call was made!

My thoughts are there are never (well almost never) single possesions in basketball that decide a game.
There are possesions near ends of games that we remember, but they still remain ONE possesion out of the 50-70 a team has in any given night.
IMO UCONN already had the game won when the tech was called. They seem to be a team that rides waves, and the wave had built prior to that possesion. It was fuled by it for sure, but the game was all but over at that point.

Completely agree with your first point but......... tell me how you can say that UConn had the game won when they were down 5 when the call was made?

No... I am saying it was nothing more than a momentum changer. If you listened to ESPN this morning, a bunch of their guys were saying that the Kemba call was the game-changing call. Couple that with the fact that a couple peeps here last night claimed that Uconn "won the game based on a technical foul call".
Both are completely ridiculous.
I don't see how you felt UConn "had the game won" before the Kemba call when they were losing by 5 points. I'd love to hear your reasoning though.

Uconn won when they jumped out in a 19-5 run in the 1st half.
Uconn won when they withstood the SD run without getting down by DD
Uconn won when SD missed 7 foul shots
Uconn won when Kemba flopped
Uconn won, when the won the Big East tourney (in other words it showed them they could hang with anyone, anyplace, anytime)
My $ was on SD at +1, and at NO TIME did I have a warm fuzzy feeling after about 5-6 mins of the game. When UConn was down prior to the flop, there was no doubt in my mind Kemba would do what ever it took, to get his team the win.
