A bit under the weather
As teams across the country, most notably Florida, have struggled with flu-like sicknesses running through locker rooms, the Boise State Broncos are not immune.
Junior receiver Austin Pettis did not practice until Friday because he was sick.
"I got Brandyn Thompson and Hunter (White) sick," Pettis said about his roomates.
There have been many stories of teams hit with the flu in the first month of the season — Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema said 40 players on his team were sick before playing Fresno State, Georgia quarterback Joe Cox took a private flight to separate himself from his teammates in their season opener at Oklahoma State, and Penn State running back Evan Royster was sick with a 102-degree fever the week before playing Temple on Sept. 19.
"The trainers are being very cautious with it," Pettis said. "If anyone's not feeling well, they're trying to keep people away from the locker room as much as possible."
Petersen called the flu bug "a major concern" two weeks ago and acknowledged he had a few players sick, but not serious enough to miss the game.
As a precaution, Pettis said many of his teammates got flu shots, but not him.
"I regret it a little bit," he said.
