The British Grand Prix was a thrilling race that saw Carlos Sainz finally claim his first Formula 1 victory. The Ferrari driver is in the midst of his most impressive season, reaching five podiums in nine races prior to Sunday's win. Before 2022, Sainz had finished as high as second only twice since his debut in 2015.

Max Verstappen, betting favorite of the British GP and F1 points leader, finished in seventh but Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez took second. Lewis Hamilton, meanwhile, grabbed his second consecutive podium with a third-place finish.

Verstappen is again favored to win the Austrian Grand Prix on Sunday, July 10. Will he rebound or will we get another surprise at the finish line? Here are the early odds to win the 2022 Austrian Grand Prix, and be sure to check out our Austrian Grand Prix picks for more.

Austrian Grand Prix favorites

Max Verstappen (-110)

Verstappen enters the 2022 Austrian GP tied for most victories at the race with three (2018, 2019, 2021). The only other drivers in this weekend's grid to win at Red Bull Ring are Lewis Hamilton (2016) and Valtteri Bottas (2017, 2020).

And while the 24-year-old failed to make good on his favorite status at Silverstone, it can largely be chalked up to striking debris from a collision between Yuki Tsunoda and Pierre Gasly. His dominance in 2022 has afforded him favorite status once more as he seeks his seventh win of the year on a track he knows very well.

Charles Leclerc (+220)

After opening the 2022 season with two victories in three races, Leclerc has fallen back down to earth. He hasn't had a podium finish in five straight and saw his Ferrari teammate Carlos Sainz take the checkered flag over the weekend. He is now third in the F1 Drivers' Standings behind Verstappen and Sergio Perez.

Still, Leclerc is second on the odds board in Austria. He finished eighth last year but was a runner-up to Verstappen in 2019 and to Bottas in 2020.

Carlos Sainz (+900)

Fresh off his first career victory, Sainz is third on the odds board. He's fared much better than his Ferrari teammate Leclerc in recent weeks and hasn't finished worse than fourth in any race outside the three he's retired from in 2022. As a result, he's nearly caught Leclerc in the standings.

The 27-year-old will look to build on his success as Ferrari aims to gain ground on Red Bull in the overall standings.

Understanding F1 betting odds

The most popular way to bet on Formula 1 odds is by simply picking the winner of a particular race. Other popular F1 betting options include which car/constructor will win and whether or not a particular race car driver will end up on the podium with a Top-3 finish.

F1 race odds usually look like this:

  • Sergio Perez +1,400

This means that on a $100 bet, you'll stand to profit $1,400 if Perez wins that particular race. If one driver is especially dominant, you might see a minus sign (-) ahead of that driver's odds like this:

  • Max Verstappen -120

This means that you would need to bet $120 to win $100 on Verstappen winning the race.
