Interesting. I know that your an "expert" and I went with our pick and didn't even look at the stats. However I got the line at 3.5 and looking back over the 2009 preseason games cincy has only won 2 of the 4 games and only one of those wins was over 3.5 points. cincy lost their regular season opener to the broncos 12-7 at home. As for the bronco's preseason games they lost 3 of the 4 and lost by more than 3 points 2 times. And with tebows preview this sunday I would have faded this bet specialy since I got it at 3.5 (its that .5 that kills me) But should be an interesting bet with the TO and 'Cinco duo. BOL. Hope we get the $$$. |

I'ver heard this over and over that parlays are "sucker"bets. Is this really true? And if so why?
well.. I just lost one of my four game parlays because the packers couldn't hold the browns :(

I think last week's win over the surging Titans squelched any of the Colts' doubters out there. Quite frankly, though, the Titans left a lot of plays (and points) out on that field. This week they face a serious giant killer in the Denver Broncos. Denver might have the most impressive resume of wins yet this season. They've beaten the Bengals in Cincinnati, the Cowboys, the Patriots, the Chargers in San Diego, and the Giants. Granted, many of these wins came in the first half of the season before they hit their four-game wall. In the last couple of weeks, though, the Broncos have worked the kinks out of their offense. And in many ways, the Marshall-Knowshon scuffle seems to have re-unified this team. They've gotten back to playing the kind of football they were playing earlier this season. What's worse, the Broncos pose a match-up problem for the Colts: a defensive end that must be double-teamed (the Colts are adamant about never double-teaming) and a veteran secondary (Bailey, Law, and Dawkins) who have seen a lot of what Manning will be throwing at them (pun intended). They have also quietly developed a potent rushing attack that a team needs against the Colts.
very good info. Denver D is 2nd on pass defense. ;) This is why I picked them. plus got them on bodogo at +7. Got them in a 3 game sup parlay aswell. lets see how much I loose this week ;) BOL to all .

I also got the bengals. reasons: The miny defense is torn up, lost another player last week against the cardinals. Injury reports got AP out with ankle problem again. vikings are going to be switching people around on the O-line. Because they said they had a "Tell" last week. (pittsburgh did the samething this week and I think it went against them in clevland) some other things to consider. Bengals are 6-6 against the spread and are 3-2 ATS on the road. Vikings are undefeated at home 6-0. (I figure it is a tough place to play. we had the vikings here in phx and I couldn't tell if we were at home or away) these teams match up on defense with vikings at 311.4 and bengals at 293.3 and if you look at the matchups on the matchups page I am suprised at the +7 spread. looks good to me. is there someting I should know? |

You are correct to look at stats. Look at them for a long time and try to play the game in your head like the coaches would. I was on the pack last night and that was because of the situational matchup. I was assuming the ravens were going to try to run the ball to succeed- against a GB D that was allowing less than 90 ypg on the ground. As a coach, a mix of run defenses, and blitzes that will also work against the run will give your team enough possessions to get a lead. The victory was in forcing Flacco to become one dimensional to catch up. When the pack knew they were going to throw, the picks came easy. Ok, it doesnt always work, but late in the season, the stats are only good if you see a situational advantage. Ray Rice was not going to sneak up on the 3rd best defense in the land, was my theory. All the Raven backers had reasons to believe the 3.5 chalk was enough to either win or cover for various reasons, or because they were blindly tailing someone else, which often works too. You are so on the right track digging deep into the stats. Also look for any intangibles that the espn computer simulator doesnt factor in and add or subtract pts to the line to help decide. GL
Thanks for the great advice. |
