GEICO 500 pre-race favorites
Ryan Blaney (+900)
Blaney enters this race as the top favorite to finish first over the weekend. The Ford driver has had himself quite the season, finishing in the Top 10 five times in his last six races. This consistent driving has landed Blaney just three points back of first place in the NASCAR Cup Series standings. Expect the 28-year-old to perform well in Talladega where he finished ninth last season.
Joey Logano, Denny Hamlin, Chase Elliott (+1,200)
Logano is still in search of his first victory of the year but the oddsmakers believe it's only a matter of time as they have him slotted with the second-best odds. He finished in third place in the Food City Dirt Race last weekend and has a legitimate chance to win it all here in Alabama.
This season has been far from kind to Hamlin up until this point. Aside from his one win at the Toyota Owners 400, he is yet to find a result like that since. His poor driving has him currently in 23rd place in the NASCAR Cup Series standings and he'll look to get back on track this Sunday. Time will tell if he can improve on the 32nd-place finish he had at the GEICO 500 last season.
Elliott has had a fairly consistent season up to this point and is first in the Cup Series standings with 324 points. He is yet to win a race this year, but he has a good shot to pull it off this weekend and improve upon his lead at the top of the leaderboard. Elliott finished 24th here last year so he'll be on the hunt to have a better result this time around.
