If there were ever any doubts as to why the MLS Cup odds favored Inter Miami, those were quickly put to rest as the Herons blitzed the New York Red Bulls this past weekend.

With Lionel Messi pulling the strings and Luis Suarez netting goals, the rest of the league better be on high alert.

Favorites to win the MLS Cup

Favorite

Inter Miami FC Inter Miami (+185)

We're starting to see why Inter Miami are the betting favorite for the MLS Cup this year, and if you haven't been paying attention, it's their lethal attack.

Inter Miami have gone nuclear over their last four league games, scoring 16 goals including putting six past an Eastern Conference contender in New York Red Bulls.

In that game vs. NYRB, Lionel Messi put on a display for the ages, notching one goal and five assists, including setting up Luis Suarez for all three of his goals.

This is unquestionably the team to beat and the odds reflect that.

Contender

Columbus Crew SC FC Cincinnati (+1,200)

After a relatively slow start to the MLS season, FC Cincinnati have thrust themselves into contention in the East as winners of three straight games.

Similar to last season's success, the Garys are getting the job done with a stingy defense — nine goals allowed through 11 games (joint best) — and timely scoring.

If the scoring can pick up, and the defense stays locked down, the Orange and Blue are a player.

Darkhorse

FC Cincinnati LA Galaxy (+1,400)

The only reason I consider the LA Galaxy a dark horse is because of where they're trading on the odds board. At +1,400, there is plenty of value here with a team that's just off the pace in the Western Conference and is the second-highest scoring team in the MLS behind only Inter Miami's relentless attack.

Defensively, they need to be better, as they've given up 17 in just 11 fixtures, but the landscape of the MLS has changed so much, and it rewards teams who attack time and time again.

This is a deep team and they are very well in play for a deep run in the MLS Cup playoffs.

What is the format for the MLS Cup Playoffs?

The Top 7 teams in each conference make the MLS Cup playoffs, with the top seed in each receiving a bye to the conference semifinals. The other six teams in each conference square off in single-elimination games, with the higher seed playing host. In total, there are four rounds in the MLS Cup playoffs, with every game single-elimination.

When are the MLS Cup Playoffs?

The MLS Cup playoffs will get underway after the regular season ends on Oct. 21, 2024.

How to bet on soccer futures odds

MLS futures odds are constantly adjusted throughout the offseason due to player transfers and injuries. Once the season begins, title odds will change as teams win and lose games and as more players get hurt or suspended. Sportsbooks will also adjust MLS odds based on handle and liability to certain teams.

MLS futures odds will usually look like this:

  • Seattle Sounders +500

This means that on a $100 bet, you'll stand to win $500 if Seattle wins the MLS Cup. If it's close to the end of the competition, or a club has been particularly dominant, you might see them with a minus sign (-) ahead of their odds.

  • LAFC -115

This means that you would need to bet $115 to win just $100 on an LAFC MLS Cup win.

Above we have posted the American odds for MLS. However, these are easy to convert to decimal odds or fractional odds with our odds converter tool.
