No. 2 Florida State 34, Virginia 20: Rashad Greene set a career high with 13 catches for 136 yards and a touchdown as the host Seminoles became the 25th team in college football history to win 25 consecutive games.

Jameis Winston overcame a pair of first-quarter interceptions to finish 22-of-35 for 261 yards and accounted for two scores – one rushing – for Florida State (9-0, 6-0 ACC), which improved to 15-3 all-time against Virginia. Karlos Williams led all rushers with 70 yards on 21 carries and added a pair of short rushing TDs.

Greyson Lambert finished 20-of-35 for 220 yards and a career-high three touchdowns for the Cavaliers (4-6, 2-4), who fell to 1-12 on the road since handing the Seminoles their last home setback during conference play in 2011. Andre Levrone, Darius Jennings and Canaan Severin each recorded a TD catch, but Virginia could manage only 37 yards rushing on 32 attempts.

Mario Edwards Jr. forced Kevin Parks to fumble at the Virginia 23 on the Cavaliers’ first play from scrimmage to set up Williams’ 2-yard run, but Maurice Canady stepped in front of a pass from Winston on Florida State’s next possession and Levrone made a leaping 16-yard grab nine plays later to tie it. Eli Harold intercepted another errant throw from Winston four plays later, leading to a diving 15-yard TD catch from Jennings near the end of the first quarter.

The Seminoles’ defense forced two turnovers and Florida State scored twice in 12 seconds early in the second quarter after Williams converted from 3 yards out following an interception and Greene scored on a 22-yard catch one play after Lambert fumbled on the Virginia’s next snap. Winston added his third rushing TD of the season on the Seminoles’ next possession and Roberto Aguayo drilled two third-quarter field goals after Lambert’s third TD toss rallied Virginia within 27-20.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Florida State freshman RB Dalvin Cook was unable to put any weight on his right leg and did not return after fumbling on a third-quarter carry, which led to Cavaliers’ final score. …. Virginia, which has dropped four in a row, has rushed for 59 yards over its last two games combined after managing only 22 yards last week against Georgia Tech. … Greene tied E.G. Green for third place on the school’s all-time list with his 13th career 100-yard receiving game.
