Virginia 45, Richmond 13: The host Cavaliers got touchdown passes from Greyson Lambert and Matt Johns and forced seven turnovers to snap a 10-game losing streak dating to last September.

Virginia (1-1) got touchdown runs from Kevin Parks (13 carries, 52 yards), Taquan Mizzell and Daniel Hamm, and a pair of TD catches from Canaan Severin in the rout of FCS foe Richmond (1-1). Lambert completed 13-of-15 passes for 102 yards while backup Johns went 4-of-7 for 65 yards.

Former Virginia quarterbacks Michael Strauss and Michael Rocco combined for 363 passing yards for the Spiders. But Strauss threw two interceptions and fumbled twice, one of which was picked up by Cavaliers defensive end Eli Harold and returned 22 yards for a touchdown.

Linebacker Max Valles had 1.5 sacks, forced the fumble that produced Harold’s touchdown and recovered a fumble forced by a Harold sack. The biggest defensive play was turned in by linebacker Henry Coley, who forced a Richmond fumble at the Virginia 1-yard line at the end of the first half when the Spiders had a chance to cut the deficit to 14-10.

In addition to catching four passes for 79 yards, Virginia’s Darius Jennings returned a kickoff 86 yards to set up the second of two field goals by Ian Frye. Quin Blanding, Daquan Romero and Tim Harris had interceptions for the Cavaliers.

GAME NOTEBOOK: It was Virginia’s 10th straight win over Richmond, which now trails in the series 28-2-2. … Richmond outgained Virginia 432-330, but the turnover margin (7-2) was key. … WR Stephen Barnette had 10 catches for 124 yards for Richmond, which had its five-game winning streak halted.
