Louisiana-Lafayette fended off a late rally by short-handed Georgia Southern and spoiled the Eagles' homecoming with a 33-26 conference road win Thursday at Allen E. Paulson Stadium in Statesboro, Georgia.

Louisiana-Lafayette quarterback Anthony Jennings had a rushing touchdown and led a clock-killing drive after Georgia Southern had crept back into the game late in the fourth quarter. Jennings completed 17 of 26 passes for 210 yards and also rushed for 96 yards.

Trailing by 14 late in the fourth quarter, Georgia Southern (4-6, 3-3 Sun Belt) found life on a blocked punt that Ironhead Gallon returned 66 yards to the Louisiana-Lafayette 3-yard line. L.A. Ramsby punched it in three plays later, cutting the Ragin? Cajuns' lead to 33-26 with 4:23 to play.

Ramsby had two touchdown runs in the fourth quarter.

With Georgia Southern's top two quarterbacks out with injuries, freshman Seth Shuman made his first collegiate start and completed 21 of 36 passes for 228 yards with a touchdown to Myles Campbell late in the second quarter.

But Jennings led a six-play, 92-yard scoring driving the final minute of the first half and scored on a 10-yard run to give the Ragin' Cajuns a 21-13 lead at halftime. Elijah McGuire and Dion Ray also had rushing touchdowns in the first for Louisiana-Lafayette (4-5, 3-3 Sun Belt).

Keenan Barnes caught a 48-yard touchdown pass from receiver Al Riles on a trick play that put Louisiana-Lafayette up 31-13 midway through the third quarter.
