NEW YORK -- Jesus Aguilar hit a tiebreaking grand slam with two outs in the top of the seventh inning and tied a franchise record with seven RBIs as the Milwaukee Brewers overcame five errors in an 9-4 victory over the New York Yankees on Friday night.
Aguilar produced the 11th game in franchise history with seven RBIs and the first since Ryan Braun on Aug. 6, 2016, at Arizona. He hit a two-run homer off Jordan Montgomery in the fourth and then drove in the tying and go-ahead runs off Tyler Clippard (1-5).
After getting the game-tying sacrifice fly in the sixth shortly after a 51-minute rain delay, Aguilar got ahead in the count at 3-0. He fouled off a 3-2 changeup to keep the at-bat going, but on the seventh pitch Aguilar drove a fastball over the left-center field wall and to the netting above Monument Park for his first career grand slam.
It also was the first multi-homer game for Aguilar, who batted .452 in spring training and was claimed off waivers from the Cleveland Indians in February after appearing in 35 games during parts of the previous three seasons.
Aguilar's big night helped the Brewers win their fifth in a row and eighth in nine games, and it occurred after the Yankees decided to intentionally walk Travis Shaw.
Braun scored on a wild pitch in between Aguilar's homers and Manny Pina added an RBI single after the grand slam.
Aaron Judge hit his 30th homer to give the Yankees a 4-2 lead in the fifth after the delay. The right fielder broke a tie with Hall of Famer Joe DiMaggio for the most by a rookie in franchise history.
Ji-Man Choi hit a two-run homer in the fourth as New York lost for the 17th time in 23 games after not capitalizing on two fielding errors apiece by right fielder Domingo Santana and second baseman Jonathan Villar along with a dropped throw by Aguilar.
After Junior Guerra exited after 3 1/3 innings with a bruised right shin, Josh Hader (1-0) gave up Judge's homer but nothing else and pitched three innings for his first career win.
Before New York's bullpen continued to struggle, Montgomery allowed two runs and seven hits in 4 1/3 innings.
Santana made two fielding errors in the second inning, but Guerra only allowed a sacrifice fly by Clint Frazier.
Santana's first error occurred when a single by Didi Gregorius skipped by him. After Gregorius scored on Frazier's fly ball, Austin Romine's fly ball went off Santana's glove, but Guerra retired Tyler Wade to end the inning.
The Yankees had two men on base after an error by Villar at second on Judge's ground ball, but Brett Gardner was thrown out trying to steal third and Gary Sanchez struck out.
The Brewers took the lead in the top of the fourth when Aguilar lifted a full count slider into the right field seats.
New York regained the lead in the bottom of the fourth when Choi drove a full-count fastball into the right-field stands two batters after Villar misplayed a ground ball by Gregorius.
The game was halted moments after Aguilar dropped the throw to first base from Guerra for Milwaukee's fifth error.
