Alabama is a 17 point fave in this game against V Tech. V Tech MIGHT NOT get 175 yards of offense in this game. Bama rolls easily!!

Final score: Alabama 35  V Tech 7.

I don't see anyone challenging Alabama until the SECCG but am nervous about giving 18 points in the opener.  Va Tech has been down for a few years and they will have their pride on the line to not get embarrassed in this game.  If they do get run out of the Ga Dome on national TV it could start the drums beating on whether it is time for Beamer to go to pasture.  Unless they can make it competitive, and I doubt they do, the seat in Blacksburg will get very warm.

no way va tech wins but, the number is still questionable.  bama refills great barely experienced talent... folk va tech has had all off season to prepare for this game- love beamer, but i think they just get out talented.  bama should roll & cover.  need to see how the D plays

Bama will not go unbeaten, imo, one to two losses this year,  But they will roll Va Tech and it shouldn't be close.

Check Nick Saban track record when he has a month or more to prepare for a team. The outcome is usually a blowout

VT never does well in big games. Alabama always does. Repeat of last meeting of these two teams in the Georgia Dome Chick Fil A bowl... Alabama covers and starts the year with a perfect record. Do not be scares of the points but take the pick before the line rises later in the week.

Alabama - 36                                         Virginia Tech - 10

Crimson Tide -20.5                               over 45.5

Sorry bigiiiii, I held off as long as I can trying to figure out a way the Hokies can cover this spread. I couldn't come up with one. Bama has covered their last 7 as non-conference favs of 28<pts. Last season the Hokies did cover against the Seminoles as a dd dog. I just don't see them being able to accomplish that feat against this tough Alabama squad.

Crimson Tide - Over

Alabama 41

VT 6

Frank Beamer said this is the best team he has ever faced.  VT has some good defensive players but not much on offense.  They might not even score 6 points.

I think Alabama should cover the spread but just don't like this game as well as others at a 3 TD spread.  I do like Bama -10 as part of a three team teaser (probably with SC-2 and FSU -1 or so).  Va Tech was already outmanned before they lost some starters this summer.  No real challenge for Alabama in this game although they may be a little sluggish at the start in an opening game.  I don't see VT's QB having any success running against the Tide's front 7 in this game regardless of how big he is.

Alabama   38      Va Tech   13      No straight bet for me

MajorCheeze is dead right. VA Tech never does well in big games.  I went there and follow them closely and they always choke on the big stage.  Realramel is also correct when Saban has time to prepare they blow out their opponents.

This sounds bad since I went to Tech - whenever they play in a big game bet against them.

I don't know if VT chokes in big games it is in my opinion always overrated.  Everybody keeps living off the Michael Vick days, but they really haven't been great in years.  Just beat up on a weak ACC.  If you look at the recruiting they are never near USC, LSU, or Alabama.  Now they have guys leaving and getting hurt.  They should struggle in their own division.  Beamer did a great job building up this program over the years but they just don't have the horses to roll with Bama or LSU.  VT hasn't had a great OL in years and I doubt this one is much better.  If they can even staying within 17 I would give them credit for that.  But I just don't see it.  The only way VT stays in this game is that the DL of VT mauls the OL of Alabama.  Doubtful but you never know.

9 out of 10 of my models have Va Tech covering here.  20 points is a bit much with Logan Thomas at the helm.  Take Va Tech here.

Logan Thomas?? That guy can struggles against ACC defenses, let alone Bama's D.. This boils down to how well u thing V-Tech's offense can do.. I don't see them scoring any more then 10.. Do I think Bama can score 5 TDs to cover if the Hokies score 10?? I do.. Bama half and game.. Best of luck guys
