Pitt starters played 40+ minutes in OT on Saturday and on 1 day of rest have to face an NC State squad not only out for revenge but out to wash the stink of that 15 point let-down loss to Miami off of their uniforms. That Miami loss did nothing but guarantee that NC State will be focused and have a chip on their shoulder on Monday. I like their chances to beat Pitt straight up.
Notre Dame
In the same boat as Pitt with some of their starters logging 40+ minutes in their recent OT loss. Their spot is even worse...on 1 day of rest they have to travel on top of that to a far superior UNC team playing their last home game of the season. Teams like UNC don't care if they already have a bye secured in their conference tournament. They care about winning games and looking good on home court where they've won 5 in a row ATS. They'll give their fans plenty to cheer about in an easy blowout.
Xavier
Sure to be on everyone's radar Monday after a couple impressive wins, Xavier finds itself in a bad spot for a couple reasons. There's a big difference between having TWO days of rest in between home games (SH) and ONE day of rest having to travel (Xavier). People are down on SH because of a loss to DePaul (typical let-down game after their heartbreaker in Creighton) and a 5 point loss to Providence without their leading scorer. I'd say Providence = Xavier in terms of talent and situation, and Providence managed a 5 point win. With Seton Hall playing their last home game of the year I think there's no way Fuquan Edwin sits. With their leading scorer back and the advantage of more rest, I don't see Xavier in a good spot to get the revenge they're looking for.

Is this the same shall team that lost to butler at home?
If you're going to cap the game based on just one game in the resume, wouldn't you think the 8 point win SH already has over Xavier is the most important one?
Seton Hall has 2 OT losses and FOUR losses by 1 point. They're literally one basket away in each of those games from being 20-9, just like Xavier. And statistically speaking, Xavier is the more talented team in the perceptions of the public, but not in reality.

State is in a bad spot if anything. They essentially lost any hope of a NCAA bid with a heartbreaking loss to UNC last week. They followed it up by laying a huge egg at home vs Miami. This team is done. It is going to be really hard for a team to pick themselves up after two defeats like that. Pitt's defense is swarming. If they limit TJ Warren to under 20 points this game will not be close. Who on NC State will score? It is literally a one man team. You are betting against a team who is playing for ACC tourney seeding and a bye vs a team who's season is DONE. Mark Gottfried in a motivational spot here? Yikes. The points look enticing, but it reeks of a blowout IMO.
Not saying I would bet Pitt here, but I def wouldn't be on that mush Gottfried here. Ugh.
Couldn't disagree more with that UNC play. On paper and in term of match-ups; I love UNC here. In terms of situational/spot plays you couldn't pick a worse spot to bet UNC here. They have clinched a bye, so motivation is mum. There is really no where to move up as the 3/4 seed difference is negligible. Add in that UNC has their arch rival on deck and I really don't see motivation. How do you get kids up for almost an almost meaningless game with Duke on deck? They are playing great, but to say they will be completely focused here for a blowout is a reach. UNC is also on one day of rest as well. Not to mention you open yourself up to a backdoor cover as Roy is the king of sitting starters. Especially after the injuries he has endured over the seasons. If they are up by 15-16 late it's gonna be scub time.
I do like Seton Hall as well if I had to bet it. Tough spot for the X here. I like this SHU team; or maybe they have just won me a bet or two.
Just throwing in my .02. Good luck either way! Really hope the Heels do blow them out so they can rest starters for the Duke game.

I agree on all besides Pitt. I think the road win vs ND just gives Pitt their confidence back, the confidence they need heading back home. A place where they historically play very well. If Pity was going on the road like ND or Xavier I would agree. But I think they get energized by the home crowd in this spot.
NC State is not a good team. That loss to Miami at home doesn't put them in a revenge spot, it just lets them know their still not good. It actually demoralizes them.
Pitt wins by double digits. But the line is double digits so...
Maybe the bet is the under. If you think Pitt is tired and their at home where they play very well defensively, that seems like the play

About UNC. Look I live 20 minutes from the UNC campus. This area eats, sleeps, and breathes college basketball. Playing a close game in OT with their rival NC State is no surprise. Being tired and playing mediocre at Va Tech after that draining OT game is no surprise either.
UNC blowing out a weary ND team will be no surprise either. I listen to Roy Williams in local interviews and he doesn't give 2 craps about having a bye already. His team will play 40 minutes tonight for the last home game of the season.

Also taking NC State ML. The ML value for this game is ridiculous.
NC State isn't a great team but their season isn't done just yet. If they win their last 2 and have a strong...and I mean STRONG showing in their conference tourney, they have a good enough RPI to perhaps slip past someone who stumbles in their own conference tourney.
You know what other team isn't very good? Pitt. They're a bubble team just like NC State. They've beaten nobody and almost lost to Va freakin Tech at home. And now they're tired as hell.

Just trying to help people out here my man
So you're saying Seton Hall is more talented than Xavier?
Letdown from Creighton, look ahead to Villanova. That's all you needed to say.
Although, I know there is a SERIOUS stress on road games from Chris Mack since they struggled so much with them early. You have to think these kids/coaches know that a win vs. Creighton can be nullified a little bit by laying an egg against Seton Hall.
Don't think Edwin plays and I think X takes care of business.

I'm not saying they're MORE talented than Xavier. I'm saying they are about equal in talent level. The numbers don't lie. SH had 2 losses in OT and four losses by 1 point. One more bucket in each of those games and they're a 20-9 team, just like Xavier.
When I see two teams equal in talent I look for other angles that will nudge the game. Playing the last home game of the season is an angle. Playing with more rest is another angle.

If Edwin sits or is used sparingly which I think he will. Guy has a broken finger... X rolls. Team on a mission, on bubble. Coming off a big win, can't take teams lightly...

Unless they win the ACC tourney there is not a snowball chance in hell they go the tourney. They have not registered ONE quality win all season. Not a chance they get an at-large.

There's a reason the line opened at -1.
These teams are not close to equal in talent.
Hall probably lost those games because they don't have the talent to win them.

Not sure there's one spot on the floor where seton hall is better than Xavier. Xavier has all the motivation needing this win to continue to build their resume. A loss tonight to a below average team can crush their chance to make the tourney. Don't think the travel will be that much of a factor it's a 2 hour flight. They aren't going over to Hawaii. Taking x on the moneyline. Unc blows this notre dame team out and I can see the same for Pitt. Nc state plays no defense at all and I expect a good effort from Pitt in their last home game and still needing wins.
