Handicappers and Degenerates - We are all standing around with our peckers in our hands, at this point. Lines have been out for months. Those of us who were able to hit the early numbers have. Those who haven't are chasing their numbers into plays. I read a lot of threads and think there are a lot of guessers and cappers alike forcing plays. If you did not get the great or good number, leave the side alone. Totals are now out and maybe you can get a good read on a few.
But face it, it's a new season. We can go on what Steele tells us and what our other research tells us and the crap we read in the local team papers or the garbage on ESPN. But, really folks, Week 1 is very much a wait and see. There WILL be surprises. There WILL be commanding covers. There WILL be wipeouts. IF you are smart enough to catch the wins and covers, excellent job! If not, you can take what you have learned into the next week's lines.
BUT, Week 1 results will be crucial information for the next week's capping. Those of us who are prepared will be ready with our thoughts and our numbers when the initial lines are released for Week 2, sometime Sunday. If your book does not release numbers until Monday or Tuesday, GET A NEW BOOK. We will pound the good numbers and shuffle around until Saturday when the contests will be played. There might be a little value to be had later in the week, based on late breaking news or other opinion. But most of us will have done the majority of our work on Sunday.
My advice, if you were not able to glean it from the above diatribe is: Don't ever force plays. Next week's lines will be released, which will give you another chance. Just be ready to hit them when they are released. Line Value can be very fleeting. Be ready to strike when you see a good number (based on solid analysis, not simply guessing).
Cheers and Best of Luck to All
