.Lines are moving big time!

Big money came in on Wisconsin, Virginia, Clemson, Ga Southern, Hawaii, UTSA, Cal, Connecticut and Louisville.

Those were some big moves.

Rutgers got a lot of money. UTEP, Utah State and UCF getting money too.

sounds like you are trying to generate interest for a certain angle...

It's line movement LonghornsHoosier. The lines moved and they moved a lot in a short amount of time. If you find it meaningless, let it pass.

Oops. UTEP moved from 8 this afternoon at Bookmaker to 7. Probably doesn't mean a thing. I doubt it means money moved at all. Big money establishment like that probably just decided to move it because they got tired of looking at 8.

I'm not seeing these line moves of which you speak. If you are referring to a big line move at a single book, that is not reflected at books across the board, then it is not a meaningful line move.

Just some examples...

Wisky was +5 yesterday, still +5 at most books today
FAU was +24, still +24
Virginia was +23, still +23
Utah St was +6.5, still +6.5

I am specifically looking at the important books like LVH, bookmaker, etc. Line moves at lesser books don't mean anything if not reflected by these books... and in fact, a meaningful line move will usually happen at these books first.


So, what exactly do you mean when you say "they moved a LOT in a short amount of time"... given the fact they didn't even move an inch?

I do see some changes at Bookmaker, but as of yet, other books aren't moving... so it seems like these could just be isolated. Would caution against getting too worked up about it...

I'm basing it largely off of Bookmaker which is where the big money plays and the place everyone copies. I've been bored looking at the same old lines and today I see tons of moves of 1 point and more. I must of been seeing things. As you were.

You are not seeing things. Im seeing line moves myself : wis+3.5 from 4.5
Mss st -30! I hope so miss is still that bad

BM is the gold standard among online books, but the true gold standard is LVH.  Until LVH moves it, I don't consider it to be a real "across the board" move...

That's great. Look at who you want to look at. I pay attention to Bookmaker and darn if there weren't tons of games moving today. Make of it what you will. Maybe it was money and maybe it wasn't. LVH doesn't have anything close to BM's handle.

I don't look at one book.  I look at all of them, and I can assure you, if you take all sportsbooks in the world, when it comes to football, LVH is the gravitational center of the football universe.  All other books on the planet will ultimately gravitate towards LVH over the longhaul.  

But this is moot... because there are always only two ways to interpret any line move... either (a) other books will adjust and move in parallel with that move, or (b) the book in question will ultimately rebound back in the other direction.

Until one of those two things happens, it is just 1 person making some big bets.  If you want to blindly tail an unknown person making bets, just because he's making those bets on Bookmaker, that is your prerogative.  I am just looking at your thread and trying to objectively evaluate whether this information is meaningful.

Until (a) or (b) happens... it is not!

Great! But the Las Vegas lines are largely recreational lines. They usually hang the extra half point versus Bookmaker. There is a reason for that. They don't have to worry to much about the best bettors beating their lines.

Las Vegas lines largely look like Bovadas which has the "worst" line because they have all the best lines. Bookmaker on the other hand has the "best" lines because you can pick up that half point they dangle as with LSU -3.5 today or Utah State -6.because they have the worst lines to bet. But you don't know it until the games are played.

All this point referred to was the large amount of movement today. Over the past couple of days, the lines have been moving a lot. If no one cares to notice, it really doesn't matter.

Anyhow, LSU hit -3.5 and I couldn't resist. Doesn't matter because it's only Bookmaker.

Like any market, the less traded it is, the more volatile it is.  Since it's very early, and the games are still weeks away, smaller wagers may move the lines more now, than they would closer to kick.

True enough. But they sure weren't moving them before the last couple of days. And not nearly as much as today. Probably all small bets though, of course.

This is one long huge load of cr@p!

All lines on the planet gravitate towards the LVH lines, because it is well-known that LVH lines are the sharpest, and they are the gold standard! I suggest you spend your time this season watching how lines move between the books, but stop just looking at offshore lines, and pay attention to the LVH lines. You will notice (beyond a shadow of a doubt) that what I am telling you is true.

I'll let anyone pay attention to whatever line they want. I only care too much about the line I'm betting against. I could have sworn I saw all that movement. I know now it didn't hapen.

First of all, most people have been researching and deciding on their college football week 1 picks- The lines are just starting to move because money is just now starting to be put down on these lines. There may or may not have been some serious $$ thrown down on some games but for the most part, betters are just now starting to bet on these games- and the lines haven't moved that much so I wouldn't make too much out of it- I mean when people start betting, the lines start moving!

These lines aren't moving man. And even if they are, who cares? Check the LVH or YouWager. None of this matters. Lines move. It's called betting. People are betting on the games. Not A LOT of money mind you. Just a little. But not anything that counts. Wake us when the game starts. We will be asleep until then.

You know this is really strange. LVH now down to Virgina -21, Cal -11.5, LSU -4,. By God, they've even got Washington -15.5. LVH and Bookmaker's lines are converging. But Bookmaker got there a day early.
