No. 23 Louisville 20, No. 25 Rutgers 17: Teddy Bridgewater threw two touchdowns in 16 seconds and Terell Floyd made two key defensive plays in the second half as the visiting Cardinals rallied to defeat the Scarlet Knights and likely secure a BCS berth.

Bridgewater, who broke his left wrist and sprained his right ankle last week in a loss to Connecticut, came off the bench to throw for 263 yards for Louisville (10-2, 5-2 Big East).

The Cardinals trailed 14-3 late in the third quarter, but finally found the end zone when Bridgewater capped a long drive with a 14-yard touchdown throw to Jeremy Wright. On the ensuing kickoff, Calvin Pryor recovered a fumble forced by Floyd, setting the Cardinals at the Rutgers 20.

On the next play, DeVante Parker beat double coverage when he jumped to catch Bridgewater‘s floater in the back of the end zone for the go-ahead score. The Scarlet Knights (9-3, 5-2) tied the game at 17 following an interception midway through the fourth quarter, but an interception on Rutgers’ next possession led to John Wallace’s go-ahead 29-yard field goal with 1:41 remaining.

Rutgers attempted to mount a game-tying drive, but a miscommunication on a deep pass play led to an easy interception for Floyd and Louisville ran out the final 66 seconds.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Bridgewater, who completed 20 of his 28 passes, was limited to shotgun plays only. … Rutgers missed out on its chance to record only the third 10-win season in the program’s 143-year history. … The Scarlet Knights, who allowed only 44 points over their first five Big East wins, surrendered 47 in losing their last two conference games.
