Recap
Nationals 3, Dodgers 1: Jordan Zimmermann pitched six strong innings and host Washington snapped a three-game losing streak in the first game of a doubleheader.
Kurt Suzuki, Ryan Zimmerman and Tyler Moore all had RBIs without the benefit of a hit to pace the Nationals.
Los Angeles scored its run on a third-inning single by Hanley Ramirez. Dodgers starter Aaron Harang (9-10) allowed two runs and seven hits in 4 1/3 innings.
Zimmermann (11-8) allowed one run and six hits in six innings. Three relievers bridged the cap to Tyler Clippard, who notched his 32nd save in 36 opportunities.
Suzuki hit a sacrifice fly in the second, Bryce Harper tripled in the fifth and scored the go-ahead run on Zimmerman’s infield out and Moore’s sixth-inning grounder plated the final run.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Zimmerman received a cortisone shot in his ailing right shoulder prior to the game and the Washington third baseman will undergo minor surgery after the season. … Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw (hip) resumed throwing by playing catch Wednesday but there remains no timetable for his return to the mound. … Nationals 2B Danny Espinosa (shoulder) was back in the lineup after an MRI exam determined the injury was merely a bruise and went 2-for-4.
