The opening round of the Stanley Cup playoffs is in full swing, and our NHL player props are the perfect addition to Monday’s four-game slate.

There are two Game 2 showdowns in the Eastern Conference, with the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs and New York Islanders looking to even their respective series against the Boston Bruins and Carolina Hurricanes. The Western Conference action features a pair of Game 1s. The Dallas Stars host the Vegas Golden Knights, while the Edmonton Oilers will play host to the Los Angeles Kings.

The Hurricanes and Oilers are the latest favorites in the NHL odds and all four road teams are underdogs.

Here are our free NHL picks for Monday, April 22.

Today’s NHL prop picks and best bets

Prop bet #1: Shoot with Svechnikov

Carolina Hurricanes winger Andrei Svechnikov was a force in Game 1 with six shots, 13 attempts, eight scoring chances, and two individual high-danger scoring chances. He was on the ice for a 66.7 Corsi For percentage and 67.4 expected goals percentage at five-on-five, too.

Svechnikov paced the Hurricanes in shots (9.52) and attempts (21.68) per 60 minutes during the 2021-22 playoff run, and his shots per game climbed to 2.71 on home ice compared to 2.14 on the highway during the regular season this year.

Finally, I’m also targeting these Andrei Svechnikov odds because the New York Islanders struggled to drive possession with a 26th-ranked 46.9 CF% at 5-on-5 while also allowing the fourth-most shots per game (32.7) overall during the regular season.

Andrei Svechnikov prop: Over 2.5 shots (-135 at Bet99)

Prop bet #2: Apple drops for Aho

After the Carolina Hurricanes allowed the New York Islanders to hang around in Game 1 on Saturday, I’m anticipating Carolina Hurricanes having a solid home showing against New York in Game 2. Carolina center Sebastian Aho is also ripe to cash in on statistical correction with an assist.

Aho has registered an assist in just three of his past 12 games for four total, so I’m looking for the playmaking pivot to return to the assists column on Monday. He paces the Hurricanes in assists over the past three regular seasons (128), and he’s put up 35 career helpers across 64 postseason games.

I also value these Sebastian Aho odds because he logs top-line minutes and has been on the ice with wingers Seth Jarvis and Jake Guentzel for an elite 7.42 goals per 60 minutes across 218:22 of shared ice time. The trio has also clicked at five-on-five with an equally dominant 61.0 Corsi For percentage and 3.97 goals per 60.

Sebastian Aho prop: Over 0.5 assists (+105 at Bet99)

Prop bet #3: Roll with Robertson

Dallas Stars winger Jason Robertson finished second in shots (57) and paced the club in shot attempts (124) across 19 playoff games last spring, and he led the Stars in each during the regular season with 231 shots and 477 attempts. The go-to winger also paced Dallas in attempts per 60 minutes (28.42) with the man advantage.

Additionally, while Robertson’s home-road splits only improve slightly when he’s playing at American Airlines Center, the Vegas Golden Knights have been far worse at suppressing opposing shooters on the highway. The Golden Knights allow 31.9 shots per game with a 47.6 Corsi For percentage at five-on-five on the road compared to respective 28.7 and 49.5 marks on home ice.

Finally, I value these Jason Robertson odds because he's regularly traded at a 3.5-shot total over the past two years, so we’re landing a target-worthy price for the decreased number.

Jason Robertson prop: Over 2.5 shots (-130 at Bet99)
