Back from my mountain retreat. Went to the mountains in North Carolina - rented a cabin which advertised internet WIFI, what they didnt advertise is that the wifi was on for a minute and then down for about 10 minutes, depending on the mood of Verizon and the mountain weather.
Needless to say, no TV so I was listening for beeps on futbol24 - and with the internet being up and down it would go 10 minutes without a beep - and then when the internet kicked back in there would be 5 simultaneous beeps. Those of you used to those beeps know how your heart jumps when you hear one, imagine hearing 5 right in a row. This on top of the fact that I am with extended family wondering why I am so interested in soccer at 10am on a saturday. Oh well.
It all worked out OK though, with a decent weekend and now on to studying the games I have taped on DVR and sent to me online. So that is my schedule for the next 2 days.
Today....
I am not an expert on La Liga. But you dont have to be an expert to know that Barca are the best team in the world - bar none - and probably not close. So how do you bet against the best team in the world on their home turf? Guts and picking your spots - and I think today is a good spot for Villareal to hang with Barca.
Barca is without Puyol and Alves, Pique, and Adriano - and it is the first game of the season. I hate rooting for that fucking traitor "Giuseppo" Rossi (as American as apple pie), but I will be today.
Im going to hold my balls and take Villareal +2 +110 for 1 unit today.
GL all
I never met a hater better than me. I am on twitter

Real Madrid could be the best team in the world shortly, maybe they already are and we just don't realise it yet... Good luck with your wager, I'm rooting for that "traitor" to score!

Thoughts on the team total Over 0.5 for Villareal? The notable defensive absences by Barca should allow Villareal opportunities to score. However, Villareal is really going to miss Cazorla against a team like Barcelona.

its sooo hard to ever bet against barca or real beacuase they can name their score anytime they want. its like better on the dog in a handicap line in tennis against djokovic, federer, or nadal...they can just name their scoreline

Injuries didn't factor into my decision too much; just figured the Yellow Submarine could at least keep it within reason in the opener (which begs the question how Hercules managed to pull off that miracle last season, but I digress...)

I'm envious of anyone who actually has to rely 'on beeps' for information. I feel so spoilt by all the civilization around me.
Vanzack, Barca *is* the best, two-three sets of the proverbial heads and shoulders above the competition. This debacle last night also shows they're fairly deep. And as long as several key guys are healthy and playing well, the other parts are interchangeable.
That is a scary notion.
I'm looking at backing them for Champions League and Spain for Euro2012 now once again.
