I can’t see myself running as a democrat. I have no clue what I would sell as one. If I ran for office, I would sell myself as a republican. I have no idea how to sell myself as a democrat.
My platform: Openness, Integrity, The Constitution, The Founding Fathers, Deism, Non-interventionism, Isolationism, Classical Liberalism, Reformism, Republicanism
I could destroy both parties. Republicans all have revisionist history degrees. I would use actual history to win. There is no need for a third party. I want to buy real republicanism.
Republicans have lost their way since Nixon. Somehow republicans brainwashed America into believing the Founding Fathers were religious zealot, big government, fascist, war hawks.
This is what I mean when I don’t like what they are selling.
I know of Robert Taft but I don’t know much about him. I don’t agree with his politics.
Here is why you wouldn't win.
Political affiliation in this country has no longer become about ideals, but tribalism.
Even if you make all the sense in the world it wouldn't matter. Even if you have "real history" nobody would care. The cognitive dissonance in the mind of a partyline voter has resulted in revisionist history, or fantasies that they tell themselves to keep up their tribal status.
Examples:
You are not a good Democrat if you oppose abortion.
You cannot be a good Republican if you are anti-war.
There are yet more examples of both parties agreeing on certain things.
Isolationism is anti-American.
War is good for the Economy
etc etc etc.
There are people like Don Juan, who would vote for Satan himself if there was a (D) next to his name.
Club Dirt who is so put off by "radical right wing ___" that he would never vote for someone with an (R) next to his name.
And the exact same dynamic plays out on the other side as well.
It is nice that you have logic, but it wouldn't matter next to the all powerful (R) or (D).
