Alright folks I sat out the first couple of games, but I’m ready to get this puppy going! Here’s my first play and will post any others I like as we go.
Celtics -7 (-110) to win 5 units
Why you ask? Well check out this link:
The Celtics are like a worn out incandescent light bulb. It takes time to light up, and flickers at times when being asked to work on b2b nights. However this bulb is still running strong and it when it lights up fully it can go on for weeks when its most needed. If you go look at the Celtics past playoff rounds you’ll notice that the light bulb in them takes some time to get going. By their strong 2nd half I know they’ll be ready to go to dominate this series.
Take a look at the game 2s for the Celtics series in the past couple of years:
vs. MIA W 106-77 after sloppy game 1 performance as they had against Knicks where they came back in the 2nd half to win game 1
@ CLE W 104-86 after a 101-93 to Lebron’s Cavs
vs. CLE W 97-87 in game 4 at home against Lebron’s Cavs after getting blown out in game 3.
@ ORL W 95-92 in game 2 as dogs
@ LAL W 103-94 in game 2 after getting creamed 102-89 in Game 1
As you can see the Celtics always try to take care of their home court. I don’t think they’ll be sloppy today and should dominate the Knicks the way they did in the 2nd half with their great defense. A banged up Billups in no good either. The Knicks will be deflated after that loss and will get their revenge in Game 3. Taking the Celtics -7 as the public is pounding the Knicks yet the line reversed.

Staying one mile away from the Mavs game but I really like one total for the other game on the slate. On Saturday I was pumped to watch my Boston Bruins tie up the series against the Habs 1-1. However, two early goals and some horrific turnovers pissed me off and led me to change the channel to the Magic-Hawks game. That led me to this total. That’s all for today.
Official Play 2:
Hawks- Magic Under 184 (-110) to win 6 units
In game 1 the total hit 196 WOOWWWWWWWWWW should be an easy cash at 184, right Baker? Hmmm…not so sure about that. The total is now up from 181.5 and at 184 I don’t see a 92-92 between these teams. Let’s talk about why. The 1st QUARTER between these two HAD A COMBINED 36 POINTS. The 3rd quarter had 53 slightly above average and the 4th QUARTER HAD A COMBINED 40 POINTS. 40 AND 36 POINTS TWO EXTREMELY LOW QUARTER TOTALS. THE GAME ONLY WENT OVER BECAUSE OF A 67 POINT YES THAT’S RIGHT A 67 POINTS 2ND QUARTER- THAT’S NOT HAPPENING AGAIN. The Hawks play really good defense against the Magic and will want to keep up the effort after getting embarrassed by them last year and they really bother the Magic by not doubling Howard. The Magic lost the first game and are a good defensive ball club when they put their mind to it. This is almost a must-win for the Magic so they will come out with their best effort. I see the Magic forcing Joe Johnson and the other Hawks players into some isolation plays. The Hawks will also limit Howard and keep the Magic shooters at bay. Let’s look at the past meetings between these teams in the regular season. 85-82 Hawks in their last regular season meeting. The Hawks and Magic shot over 40% from the field and still went way under the total. 91-81 Hawks won the 3rd meeting going under the total. 80-74 Hawks won the 2nd meeting with an extremely low total. In the first meeting of the regular season the Hawks lost 93-89 to the Magic which is less than the 184 total we are getting today.
The Hawks can beat the Magic because the Magic live and die with the 3 pointer. Here are the 3-point percentages the Magic have shot in the 4 games against the Hawks in the regular season- 30.4%, 23.5%, 18.2%, and 18.2%. In the playoffs they hit 27.3% from 3-point in Game 1. That’s disgustingly low and that’s the reason Howard has to play like Superman for the Magic to have any chance to beat them. As a result the pace will slow and that’s the reason I’m feeling a really slow-paced game. At 184 we are getting great value on this total.

I like this quote:
“I think for us, we have to be more focused, because we haven’t done a good job of, if a star player sits – throughout the course of the season, we saw that opportunity many times and we’ve lost those games,” said Pierce. “I don’t know if we’ve taken them for granted or taken them too lightly because they’re missing a player and that the team wouldn’t play as hard, but we’ve lost quite a few games when the other team’s star is missing. So I hope, hopefully, even if Chauncey plays or he doesn’t, we take note (that) Toney Douglas is more than capable."

Tough call on the total. I expect the Celtics to amp up the defense. However, the Knicks have a very porous defense and tend to give up a ton of points. Without Billups, Douglas might push the pace more and with 3/5 meetings between these teams going over I’m going to stick with the side in this one. BOL if you play the total.

Thanks buddy! Ya I like the Celts a lot whether Billups plays or not. They always step up in game 2 and they will want to take a strangle hold in this series. The Celtics also dominated the boards outrebounding the Bockers by 10 last game. I think they stick it to them.
