ORLANDO MAGIC - - - I have the Orlando Magic ranked as the 3rd best team in the NBA. I even have them higher ranked than your 2009-2010 NBA Champions. The reason is simply due to the fact that this is the deepest team in the NBA. Not man teams can have minimal drop off from 5-10. There is no drop off really 10 deep for the Magic, I really believe their second unit is good enough to beat a majority of the starters in the NBA. Superman is the leader, he is the most dominant 5 man in the league. Many of us have been waiting for him to get his offensive game to another level. This summer he was tutored by my favorite player of all time and the greatest center to ever play the game, Hakeem “The Dream” Olajuwon. Dwight wants to get better, he wants to take the next step, that is what makes him great. Nelson and Carter will remain as one of the most potent offensive backcourts in the NBA. Lewis will continue playing an undersized starting 4 and with Matt Barnes gone the starting 3 job is up for grabs. It will most likely be taken by their new acquisition Quentin Richardson. Although I have never been a fan of Quentin’s game, I do have to respect his ability to shoot. If there is any system that is tailored to his success, it is Stan Van Gundy’s system. Stan loves the 3 point shot. He uses it as a deadly weapon in his team’s arsenal. Off the bench you arguably have more talent than any other team in the NBA. Their other free agent pickup was Chris Duhon. A perfect point guard for this system. A pass first PG, he is very intelligent and savvy. This vet will lead the 2nd unit to perfection. J.J Reddick has gotten better as a pro as each year has progressed, not only is he a deadly marksman. His defense is much improved and he has other facets to his game other than the 3 point shot. Air France Pietrus may slowly make his way into the starting line-up over Quentin simply because of his added ability to defend the perimeter. Brandon Bass is so under used it saddens me. Such a talented big, stuck in limited minutes because of Lewis and also Richard Anderson. Anderson stretches the d with his 3 point shot and has good rebounding ability, yet another rare weapon for Orlando. Brandon Bass is in a lot of trade rumors because Anderson, he is better suited for the Van Gundy system but I think Bass is a stud. Marcin Gortat could start for 20+ teams in the NBA. He is a beast and very underrated. I have no doubt that the Orlando Magic will finish #1 in the NBA in offensive production and will be one team that consistently blows teams out of the water. best team in the NBA.
2010/2011 ORLANDO MAGIC - - - Will finish either #1 or #2 in their division. Will finish #2 or #3 in the East. Will finish #3 overall in the NBA. Dwight Howard is my dark-horse for the MVP race. He will surprise all the Durant lovers and be named MVP of the 2010/2011 NBA season. Orlando will be eliminated in either the conference semi-finals or conference finals by the Boston Celtics.
WASHINGTON WIZARDS - - - Many of you probably think I am crazy in saying that the Wiz may make the playoffs in the East. But the East is so wide open from 7-13 that it is very much possible to sneak into that 8th spot. I just find it amazing that a rookie is the most astonishingly quick point guard in the NBA. John Wall is a star. He will be an all-star in the NBA very soon. He is undoubtedly the best player in this draft class by a mile. When I watch this kid I am amazed at how fast he is with the ball in his hands. He has the confidence and swagger to go far in this league, all he needs is a little experience and with that will come an increased basketball IQ. A rookie will lead this team to the successfully. Agent Zero, despite his constant stupidity is still one of my favorite players. I am a bit ashamed to say that considering he has been such a douche bag, but it is true. I have loved his game since I saw him in Golden State. If Arenas can learn to close his big mouth, stay injury free, keep his glock 22 and old school revolver at home, he should be just fine this season. What he needs to do is learn how to guard the 2 guard in the NBA and he will be an ultimate asset to the Wiz. With Wall and Gilbert in the backcourt together, that could be a devastating combo this year. Once Josh Howard returns he will contribute for the Wiz at the 3 spot. In the mean time that spot belongs to Al Thornton. Thornton shines for Flip Saunders after coming over in a trade. He should mesh well with Wall and Gilbert. Kirk Hinrich is a huge pickup for Washington as he was basically gambled away by Chicago in hopes of hitting the Lebron/Wade jackpot. Kirk is a sold veteran who will help Wall progress as a pro. As Flip Saunders will implement a 3 guard rotation, either Kirk or Wall will always man the point which is great. Kirk will also share time at the 2 in many instances when the Wiz decide to play with him and Wall together. I also think Yi Jianlian is another great pickup. I like Yi’s game. He struggled constantly last year but a new system and a new team is exactly what Yi needs to get his career rolling. Was very high on him in Milwaukee and still think this kid has potential. Blatche & McGee can be very annoying at times however one thing you cannot deny is they are a young force down low. Both are very long with crazy wingspans, McGee has star potential written all over him. Blatche was the go-to-guy in many instances last year. Although I doubt that will be the case with Wall, Kirk and a healthy Arenas, I do think Andre has yet another solid year. Wiz are talented, young and well coached. They just have a dismal second unit, if Wall, Kirk, Thornton, Blatche and McGee starts and Gilbert gets injured or shoots his toe off, that leaves guys like Yi, Adam Morrison and Cartier Martin as your main second unit guys. Washington could have one of the worst benches in the East. I still think with a 7 man rotation this team will have a chance to make the last playoff spot in the east.
2010/2011 WASHINGTON WIZARDS - - - Will finish #4 in their division. Will finish #9 or #10 in the East. For the first time since Jason Kidd and Grant Hill, John Wall will share co-rookie of the year honors with Clippers forward Blake Griffin.

Very sharp line, quite impressed this early in the season with such a
line. Orlando is just that damn good, was hoping to hit the Magic early
and often this season since I thought their stealth powerhouse status
would allow me to steal some pretty lines. I guess the secret is out.
10 deep there is no team in the NBA that can honestly say they have what
Orlando possesses. Not only do they have immense talent from 5-10,
they type of talent they have is just perfect for the Stan Van Gundy
system. Give Orlando upper management a lot of credit, the team that
they have assembled is quite possibly a perfect fit to surround their
superstar and their head coach. 3 point shooters all over the place, a
brand new backup point guard who knows how to find open trailers and
gaps on offense and actually internally improving their team. I heard
Vince looks different, Dwight did what he did in the Summer. Jameer
has gotten better, Lewis has improved. Internal improvement is the key
to winning championships and it is scary to think those 4 former
all-stars have improved their game. This could actually be a meeting of
the best bench in the East vs the worst bench in the East. I
understand Orlando is looking ahead to Miami but it really does not
matter, Orlando is DEEP and have consistently annihilated teams in
preseason action. On first glance you see this spread and think it is
inflated as hell for a decent club like Washington, but as the season
progresses I assure you, you will have to deal with spreads of 16-19 for
Orlando at home vs mediocre teams. The Magic are the real deal
Holyfield and all the wizardry in the world won't be able to stop the
black magic tonight.

his name is Ryan Anderson not Richard Anderson, but that was a nice writeup. I agree with you the Magic are very deep but they are certainly not "under the radar". Dallas is a team thats "under the radar".
Hmm and just wondering... if the Magic are ranked #3 on your power rankings, and the Lakers are #4, I'm guessing you have the Celtics at #1 and Heat at #2?
Either way I am rollin wit you on Magic -14. good luck sir
