HOUSTON ROCKETS - 3.5 - - - Don't worry that the consensus is on this pick, doesn't really matter. The Rockets are the worst match-up in the NBA for this Nets team. They beat em in every aspect of their roster. As long as the point guards on HOU can play some man defense on Devin Harris this game will be out of reach early. The Nets have not won at home against the Rockets in over 7 years. The rockets have taken the last 4 and 7 of the last 8. NJ is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games and Jersey continues to be one of the worst places to play basketball. Empty red seats all over that arena. Kinda sad. Depth of Rockets to win this one. Watch for Aaron Brooks on HOU to surprise Harris with his speed and quickness, Artest should check Carter and hold him with ease. That leaves who else that could cause problems for HOU? Lopez and Yi don't have a chance against Yao and the exceptional defense of Shane Battier. Carl Landry, Chuck Hayes, Scola, Luther Head and even Von Wafer all play excellent man defense and should cause a lot of problems for the Nets and their inconsistent offense. The key here is Brooks and Head defending Harris and I think these two young PG's have quick enough feet and defensive I.Q to pull off an all out stop on the scorching point guard. This is my play of the year and highest wager value thus far. Rockets roll.

DENVER NUGGETS - 3.5 - - - Risky bet against the talented Blazers, but I think after losing 3 in a row it will be the Nuggets who will be more desperate for a win. Sometimes you can't cap a game by strictly stats and trends, you can't measure will and I really believe the Nugs will take this one. Should be a hell of a ball game and teasing Portland is a sure fire winning bet. Nugs won't loose 4 in a row. Blazers have been sitting a bit too long. A 3 day rest for them and they are 1-2 on the young season when sitting for 3 days. Nugs have been on a 1 day rest and are 5-1 on a quick turnaround. I suspect Chancy, Mello, Nene to play well, they have to all have great offensive games to beat this Blazer team. Only think that worries me is who will guard B.Roy? It will have to be a team effort, George Carl likes to double SG's and that may cause Roy some problems, hopefull that thin Denver air will slow down Roy and his Blazers.
