So, I actually wrote the league office about the end of the Nuggets game the other night, where a lot of us either pushed or lost the 2h Over by .5. They wrote me back! And here is what they had to say..
Thank you for writing the National
Basketball Association with your concerns about Chauncey Billups’ field
goal attempt on the Lakers’ basket as time expired in their game against
the Nuggets on Nov. 11.
Rule No. 5, Section I.e. of The
2010-11 Official NBA Rule Book explicitly states: “It is a violation for
a player to attempt a field goal at an opponent’s basket. The opposing
team will be awarded the ball at the free throw line extended.”
For this reason, Billups’ shot
as time expired did not count and the final score will remain 118-112.
Thank you again for writing and
for your support of the NBA.
Sincerely,
NBA Fan Relations
So, even though it is not what I wanted, and still cost me some $.. at least that is a semi-acceptable reasoning. :)

Billup's shot it in the Lakers basket with .2 seconds left. Refs didn't count it (now we know why) A lot of people had the 2h over at 107 that ended up with a push. Some like myself had it at 107.5 and lost on it.

Somebody help me out here because i am lost on what is going on here? Its a violation to shoot at another teams basket??? What?
Rule 5, section 1e states "“It is a violation for
a player to attempt a field goal at an opponent’s basket. The opposing
team will be awarded the ball at the free throw line extended.”
According to rule 4, section 1a the definition of basket is stated as "a. A team’s basket consists of the basket ring and net through which its players try to shoot the ball."
So attempting a field goal at an opponent's basket would mean trying to shoot in the same hoop that the opponent is supposed to be shooting at. Therefore, the refs correctly applied the rule in this game .

youtube link to this? I did not see this, and I had the under 107.5 that night... holy crap
You didn't see the game. There was a lot of fishy sh*t going on with it. Same ref on that game Violet Palmer has been on a rampage so far with really shady games this season.
The bs Melo technical at the end of the 3rd Quarter cost me my Denver +1 3rd Quarter bet

alot of us have dvr and i checked after someone mentioned it and billups did in fact shot the ball well outta his hands with .1 seconds left the ball was almost at the top of its trajectory. that response is bullshit, i believe the basket counts and the player closest to the hoop from the opposing team is awarded the basket. either way the lakers should have gotten the ball back with atleast .2 seconds left. I think the basket should count.

Alright, look guys, I wrote to the league office asking the same question that hamster13 allegedly did, but I got, to say the least, a differently-worded response. I don't know what hamster13's deal is, or if he's a shill for the league or if he works for Vegas or what, but someone blatantly altered the content of the letter allegedly sent to him. I'm going to post the NBA's ACTUAL response right here.....UNALTERED. For all of you who ever wondered how tough the league is willing be on players who get mixed up in any league-related gambling scandal, read on.... .
Thank you for writing the National Basketball Association with your concerns about Chauncey Billups’ attempt to cheat second half under bettors with his field goal attempt on the Lakers’ basket as time expired in their game against the Nuggets on Nov. 11.
Rule No. 5, Section I.e. of The 2010-11 Official NBA Rule Book explicitly states: “It is a violation for a player to attempt a field goal at an opponent’s basket for the purpose of altering poinstpread or over/under wagers. These wagers are not limited to the standard full game wagers but also include 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quarter wagers, as well as 1st and 2nd half wagers. For cosmetic purposes, the opposing team will be awarded the ball at the free throw line extended. In addition, the offending player will have his newest Escalade stripped in the parking lot of the team's practice facility within 48 hours of said violation.”
For this reason, Billups’ shot as time expired did not count and the final score will remain 118-112, thus negating Mr. Billups' ill-advised attempt to lift the second half point total over 107.5 points.
Thank you again for writing and for your incurable addiction to the NBA's powerful and sinister wagering appeal.

There you go, guys. So let's not hear any more nonsense about how "the league's in on the fix!", because they're clearly keeping their eyes peeled for crap like Billups tried to pull.
