Your thoughts on the Knicks going on a win streak of 4-6 games (as you say, the near future aint so tough)?
Yes, they absolutely must win 3 of 4/4 of 5 in the next 4 or 5 to make any sort of run at the eighth seed.
As usual tomorrow's line is short +3.5 Knicks (no respect for a b2b) so I'd have to think about it. That game is more iffy because of the talent on the Cavs (Miles ahead of the Jazz) and the travel home/away for the Knicks. But for the games I listed in the OP, the lines are the only real consideration here. The wins will come against these lousy teams home or away. And if they get hot enough, they may be able to knock off the pacers getting a nice chunk of points at home on 3/19. I am already eyeballing that game.
But Cleveland is an important game. It is one of the teams they have to leapfrog to get to Atlanta. It's a damn shame it has to be on a b2b with travel away to F it up or else even one day rest would make it an automatic ML Knick play.

Sorry bro.... I was running all day at the garden barely gotta chance to sit by the comp but I saw them practice it was pathetic..... evident by tonights outcome.....
Aside from that..... that line was clearly designed for the public totake the bait on Utah.... Total never moved but line grew to -7 knicks. Smells like a blowout for knicks..... Aside from that knicks weren't an overly big public play tonight.... which was great. Same type of deal last night.... miami big public team last night.... yet home spread grew and total dropped 3 points.... Vegas cleaned up on that spurs win and under majority were on heat and over.
I'm laying off on the next game though.... cleveland will show up I have a feeling.

Great job Scal. Look forward to your next write up. BTW, I know you don't make first half bets but the Sixers have been off for almost a week. I'm thinking the Jazz will be the sharper team in the first half and should cover that spread. I heard a college coach on the radio talking about how long layoffs often work against teams as they lose their competitive edge (not that the sixers are very competitive to begin with). Also, how much more embarrassment can this Jazz team take? At least Philly has an excuse.

woohoo scal!!!! hoping ur next pick is the unload the truck pick! great work mate
Well, this was 4/5ths of a 5 ton truck. Really, the best spot this year that almost certainly won't be matched was the Knicks @ Nets December 5th. That 30 point win was a dismantling the stars had aligned for all season.

I do agree with that college coach in almost all instances. Thanks for the info on Jazz. Train is on the Sixers spread and ML and has a thread about it so ya may wanna drop in there.

ACtually gonna look into the Knicks game tomorrow as they might be on a roll right now and they are some what decent on the back end of a B2B.
Will be looking for your thoughts as well, Scalabrine.
The line is -2.
The Hilton opened it at 3 and already it dropped a point.
I know there's no record on this stuff but I follow all Knick lines closely, even for the games I lay off of, constantly checking them.
I'll bet they lead the pack in having lines move against them from the opening. It's happened in every single one of my six picks and I can't remember when a Knick line actually rose for them, if it happened once or twice this season.
Even the HEAT had the line go from +2 to +2.5 for them against the Spurs! I know it's the Spurs in a huge revenge spot but come on, it's the Heat getting points and then they are getting more and they were on a 8 game win streak.
Meanwhile, the Knicks on a 7 game losing streak, had their line in Minny on Thursday drop from 9 to 8.5 and even though they were on a 7 game losing streak.
The books can't open these Knick lines low enough when they are dogs or high enough when they are favorites. The public has an unexplainable love affair with this atrocious team in one of their worst seasons in their history....

And now, it's not even noon EST and the Knicks are down to +1 from +3 and +3.5 in certain places.
They may get to even or -1 before tip!
The obsession the public has with the Knicks is unexplainable. I can only think they are so enamored with Melo's scoring capability, he alone can win any game. To disprove that, just look at their record. Awful.

@jail @ tim - the line absolutely prohibits me from taking the Knicks as does the b2b. I'm not giving the books 4.5 points back.
Let me give you a little secret about the Knicks and their starting 5.
After the Bulls debacle, Woodson inserted Amare into the starting 5.
Why?
He contributes on the offensive end more than Prig (2 pg backcourt in the Bulls game and during many of those losses). He contributes more than Hardaway who is still too raw as a rookie.
The result? Guys on here were saying the Knicks were a good first half bet.
Why? Amare was scoring and getting the Knicks off to quick starts.
Did it work?
Yes.
They had a halftime lead against Detroit and crumbled in the second half.
They won in Minny.
They crushed the Jazz at home.
Now Woodson will keep the same starting 5. Why is that a problem if it's worked so effectively?
Because Melo already is minutes weary (and he was actually sick from something last night and still had a great game), and more importantly,
Amare doesn't handle back to backs well.
Why?
Because at this point in his career he should be handled like Wade or KG when he starts. And he is starting. It's a lot of wear and tear on him.
And THAT is why this line should never move against the Knicks if it reflected true value.
But these lines don't reflect true value.
They reflect public pounding.
And the public pounds the Knicks relentlessly regardless of anything I said above or in any post I made.
They absolutely SHOULD NOT be a one point favorite from a 3.5 pt dog.
That is why I'm not betting it.
But if they win it?
They will be primed for a 8th seed run with the dregs of the league up after this one.

Took the small home dog. Cavs +1 Knicks 10-20 on the road. Cavs 15-16 at home.
I can't fault ya. The Knicks are unbettable after that line move regardless of the outcome. You can't nonchalantly concede 4/4.5 points to the books for the right to take the Knicks at noon on the day they are playing after the line swings unreasonably.

The game is equally big for both teams. The Cleveland has lost 3 straight (4-6) last 10. New York has won 2. (3-7) last 10. The Cavs had 3 tough games. @ Memphis, vs Spurs, @ Charlotte. The Cavs need this win before a 3 game road trip.
