i posted yesterday in someone's thread that they should do just that. I was in favor of trying to trade Harper last year and want to even more this season, along with every other piece that can yield some young prospects.
This team stinks to high heaven and they have no foundation, just a bunch of bought off pieces. The only homegrown product they have is Aaron Nola but he was ready to pitch right out of LSU on day 1, it wasn't like they developed him and he's done nothing but regress every season.
Harper plays harder than anyone but it doesn't translate to the rest of the team, just a soft and dumb group who look like they are just there to collect their check.
They can replace Girardi, but i don't see it changing anything unless they bring in a real culture changer like Buck Showalter

The Phillies and Royals should hold joint meetings. All drafting, development and training personnel. Make extensive notes, then fire the whole bunch and hire people that will do exactly the opposite of the current consensus.
Now and then even a BLIND squirrel can find an acorn

Funny you mention the Royals along with the Phillies. Back in 2001 the Phillies hired Mike Arbuckle to be the asst. GM and director of scouting and he was regular scout for 8 years for Philly before that. He's pretty much been credited of being "the guy" who built the foundation for the 2008 WS champs Phillies with guys like Pat Burrell, Ryan howard, Utley, Cole Hamels, Jimmy Rollins, Brett Myers, Ryan Madson and Carlos Ruiz.
He left the Phillies 2 weeks after they won the WS in 2008 after being passed up for the 2nd time for the GM position. He took an offer from Royals GM Dayton Moore to be his counselor and KC went on to have the most success they've had since George Brett was in their lineup.
during the 80's he was a regional scout for Atlanta...idk how much he is responsible for the 90's Braves success, but everywhere the guy went he was a winner

Another week or so of Losing and the phantom injuries will appear. They have checked out. Elvis has left the building. State of Philly sports is in bad shape. Flyers Eagles and Phil’s are atrocious and sixers are full of shyt
