I'd certainly agree noone is automatic.
Also the 8 day rest angle I believe lessens as a factor the more starts one has behind oneself:
CC had had just 1 start in the 16 days prior to his Game 1 start vs Texas.
Halladay had had just 1 start in the 18 days prior to his Game 1 start vs San Fran.
Lee has had 2 starts in the 14 days (& 3 in 21 days) prior to Game 1 vs SF.
To me, it's not so much the gap between individual starts, but the gap in overall workload that made for why CC & Halladay were obviously not at their best in their subsequent starts off such a break. Clearly Lee's comparative workload has not been nearly as light, and because of that I'll think you'll see the difference in how his effort goes as vs those of CC & Halladay (& for the record, Hallday's effort was hardly bad but for 2 Cody Ross homers).

I was there and it was unreal at the time. Being at those parades as a carefree teenager will always be one of the highlights of my life. Old b/w TV set at the parents house, games that lasted 5 hours some days, 8 guys in the penality box for Philly and still winning. Great memories...
