Hey all, I got a tough situation going on with my friend and bookie. Here's the story:
My friend was using my account to places bets. He ended up winning bout 2100 bucks that week and my bookie ( local ) went broke. So he paid me partial 900 to pay my friend. And now my friend is saying since I was using your account that I am responsible for the rest of the money. Which I don't really get.
Note: I didn't play for about 2 weeks on that acct it was vacant with no bets.

That's the problem he doesn't know the bookie.. And I met him through a friend.. So he has no connectin to the bookie at all. I'm not even that close to him either

Explain the situation with him. He should understand if he IS your friend. After he gets his money cut loose with him. Tell him to make his own account. Don't mix friends and money together. It will ruin a friendship...been there done that

so you aren't that close to him and you call him a friend? How can you allow a guy to use your account when you aren't even close to him? What if he used your account to run up some bets and then not pay after losing?
This is a prime example of why we hear about unsolved shooting mysteries. I mean look at everyone in here saying basically screw the guy that won 2100. From the looks of it, you make your "friend" come across as being a person who is a dog, getting a little too excited after winning, and being very demanding.
fairladyz916, the smart thing to do is to continue to play defense. In good faith, do keep your friend updated as far as the money goes, i know you feel like crap because you said you hardly know him, he's being very demanding, but it sounds like you might have been doing your bookie a favor by trying to get him a customer, and we all well know that in the long run, the bookies always win. The only possibility that i can think of as to why you would let a "friend" whom you say that you hardly even know, use your account was to do a favor to your real friend which is the bookie. Think about it, you said that you "hardly even know him" yet you allowed him to play under your account?
I said play defense, because if you try to cause a turnover so that you can gain possession of the football, there is a chance that someone might pop a cap inside of your butt and that's not what we ever even want so lets not even take a chance. In good faith do try to get the man his money, and when you do deliver, how do you know that he won't give you $150 for all the work that you did? Now if he doesn't give you a tip like that, then you can play offense because by that time he thinks the game is over. But when his back is turned and not looking, that's when you can really wag your finger and start playing real offense when he least expects it, do you get my grip?

that's right, i am saying it, every single one in this thread who basically said fukk the guy that's being a jerk about winning and then making you responsible. no no no no my friend. yes you can take that route if you really want but that's not being smart. This is very very deep, you gotta really think about it. It's not about who deserves this and that and that you are right, this is about life. And maybe you feel that this guy who won 2100 is nothing but a lowlife scrub but don't ever let yourself rationalize anything or anyone. The mistake that many people in here fail to realize is that you allowed someone to play under your account. And lets say that you have a gun, well then so be it but how do you know that some "scrubs" don't have machine guns and other friends? Good luck to you my friend.

No. You are not responsible. He knew he wasn't placing the bets with you. He must know that there is a chance that the bookie might be shady. This is the chance you take with locals. You are not responsible. Tell him this. If he doesn't understand that's his problem. It's not yours. You don't owe him Jack Shit.
