The truth of the matter is B Hop never would lose to a white boxer, because he's never lost to anyone...........at least in my eyes. The losses to RJjr. and J Taylor were all decisions, and while the judges in those fights gave the decisions to his oppenents, BHop didn't LOSE any of those fights, imo

I cant believe hopkins said that, he sounds intelligent when i hear on the rome show all the time. But your right if i white guy said that about a black guy jesse jackson, al sharpton, etc would help raise a march to protest boxing. I remember steve nash saying how sick he was of guys his whole life telling him that he was a pretty good baller for a white guy, or when vince carter told the minnesota bench of wally zerbiak, you better get this white boy off me or im scoring 50. It is such utter nonsense that it doesn't go both ways!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guys, calm down. Nothing to get so worked up about. It was just a black guy trying to downgrade a white guy. Nothing new. We, as an American public, accept this. If it were the other way around though, you should all be happy to know that The Ambigously Gay Reverand Duo (that is Sharpton and Jackson for those of you keeping score at home) would be on the front pages demanding an apology.

i actually liked hopkins too, i loved his stories on the jim rome show about being in prison and getting out and taking advantage of a second chance that he had. Now i will only see him as a bigoted fool.

superbeets when you classify an entire gender race or religon into one sentence, that's where i see a problem, If he said something like i would never lose to a person or something like that person would be up in arms.

So if I were a prize fighter and stepped up to the media (as a white person), and said "I would never let a black boy beat me." You think I wouldn't be up to my eyeballs in litigation?

I understand but "we live in the world we live in". It will never change as long as we have pro-black and pro-white groups out there making excuses for HUMANS.

I'm black and I think everyone should be offended..but thats asking a bit much...Instead we start pulling the "who said what and when" sh*t! Seriously, if you considered yourself a non-racist you should be mad anytime anyone makes an ignorant statement regardless of color or religion...This is the direction as intelligent beings we need to go...
With that said...The natural state of this country I'm curious to see a poll of race on the Maywhether vs Hatton fight...All my black friends want pretty boy...all my white friends want hatton...ask me am I surprise...

What does that have to do with making an out and out racist remark?
My point is that boxing breeds this kind of talk. Boxing may be the single biggest example of nationalism & sometimes outright racism in American sports. It's the one sport I've followed over the years where everyone gets behind "their" boy almost blindly- and by "their" I mean a fighter of their color, creed, etc.
So when I hear a boxer say something that would normally offend, I don't listen, because the sport as a whole breeds that kind of talk/behavior. The movie "The Great White Hype" attempted to put the point I'm trying to make on the big screen.

Imagine there was a black goalie in hockey, and one of the top NHL stars after a penalty shootout said, "there is no way a black goaltender was going to deny me."
