how many games were lined in the mid 70's throughout the year? not a whole lot. these two teams defenses are units that were good enough to get their team to the championship. these aren't scrub defenses. they have size and speed all over. half of oregons throws are slips and bubbles and Ohio st has the ability to beat the 1 on 1 perimeter blocks to keep that passing game in check. Oregon already hit the jailbreak vs fsu so oh st should be more aware for that. oregons front looked good on that goaline stand where Fsu featured 3 interior OL that are going to get drafted. Oregon can defend the run, and you have to think Meyer tries to limit Oregon 's possessions by running the qb. it will be interesting to see how fast Meyer goes: limiting Oregon's # of possessions or going fast too. I just see two talented defenses that have a bunch of 4/5 star recruits built to defend spread offenses.
aub/Oregon comes to mind.
good athletes on ST coverage units should decrease the possibility of return td's.
this already a 2 u play for me (4 all year), and I'll prob use as a teaser piece.

jack- true. Alabama def superior to Oregon. Ohio st had the pick 6 and the long run that broke late in the game. I just think you see a different pace to championship games. I reference the aub/Oregon from a few years back. also, Oregon is missing 44% of its receiving yardage due to injuries and susp.

well Ohio st put #43 on the slot to the wide side and completely man handled any perimeter block. Oregon ran one outside zone and 43 complete obliterated his man. how many slips and bubbles did Oregon run? far, far less than the 50% of the offense that the slip/bubble series compromises for Oregon. and when you take away what a team does best, it becomes hard for that team to be successful.
I was big time wrong with Oregon's abitlity to slow Ohio st run game down, but I was encouraged with Meyer snapping the ball with under 10 on the play clock- no huddle no hurry : )
