I'm a Vols alum and here to tell you that i agree TN is missing some pieces with injury to LB Darren Kirkland Jr. who was the QB of the defense. However, FYI although Butch Jones hasn't announced a starting QB, several players have alluded to the fact that this is a tactical move and that the teammates have known for quite some time who the starter will be I'm assuming Dormandy, who I believe is quietly under the radar better than most ppl realize. TN fields one of the nation's most experienced OL's in terms of # of starts vs. a GT defense that allowed over avg 5 yards/carry last year and lost some pieces on the DL. Intangibles TN strong special teams w/Evan Berry. Also, GT breaking in a new QB in triple-option offense w/alot of decision-making and dismissed top RB from team. I expect a healthy dose of John Kelly from TN and mix in some high percentage passes to keep the defense honest. History shows that teams do much better against triple option when having more than 1 wk to prepare as the key defensively is disciplined assignment football. Stay in your line cover your man don't get caught with your pants down in an overpursuit. This of course is my biggest ? w/TN is how disciplined will the defensive players be. I believe TN has the talent adv and Jones has kept them out of the media's radar. Small potatoes play on TN-3 just because I'm a homer, but IMHO the play is TN or no play at all.. feel like much more of the question marks are on GT side (GT secondary is extremely solid!) and alot of the perceived questions about TN reflect Coach Jones learning that TN is notorious for getting caught up in the hype stuff and under-performing. TN fan base is extremely critical and Shoop/Jones learned after last year to stay out of spotlight under the radar and lets the talking be done on the field. BOL to all just my 2 cents
