Miami / Florida St. CFB (that game determined the NC for about a decade.)
Cowboys / Redskins -- Actually, all of these pro rivalries reach across the entire country, as to where OSU / Mich doesn't mean a thing outside of the two states.
Alabama / Aubrun CFB
Yankees / Mets
Florida / Florida St. CFB
Army / Navy (even though I find that game extremely boring)
It's all about where you live, which sport you like best and who your favorite team is. It happens to be the week that OSU plays Michigan, so the over hype machine is out in full force to land rating for ABC on a nationally televised game. I would agree that back in the Woody and Bo days, it was a great rivalry. But Tressel vs. Carr?? Mmmmmmokay. It's that time of year for everybody to drink the kool-aid and not think for yourselves. Can non-fans of OSU or Michigan please tell me a vivid memory from this rivalry outside of Desmond Howard's punt return and Heisman pose? I can't think of a damn thing that stands out, probably because there just isn't any interest in 90% of the Country.

I live in Ohio and hate Ohio State. HATE!! So much that I cheer against their women's basketball team when they come across the ticker. I can see how the fans think it is a big game though, Michigan can't win on the road and Ohio State doesn't play anybody in between weeks 2 and 12. Auburn-Alabama would get my vote.

I really think it depends on your location in the country. Ohio St-Michigan in football would have been way down my list. I would say Army-Navy first, because this rivalry involves servicemen EVERYWHERE.
And, because I lived in TX for a few years, Tex/Tex A&M would be in my top 5. Always happens on Thanksgiving weekend, which adds to the tradition.
But, I do look forward to the Division IAA matchup tomorrow between Michigan and Ohio State.

For those who think a baseball game can even come close to the passion of a college football game....you guys are clueless. Football is about hard hitting and passion. Baseball is an entirely different sport.
As for Ohio State and Michigan not having the recruits, that is disproved. Look at how many current NFL players are from Ohio. And the best quarterback in the league is from UM, is he not?
The winner of tomorrow's year determines who goes to the Rose Bowl....and this is a down year! Just this fact is unbelievable. Normally this game does have National title contender implications...it even does this year if you think about it. It is not unthinkable that a one loss OSU team could play for the title...unlikely, but possible. And this is a down year I repeat.
Auborn and Alabama is overshadowed by so many rivalry's in the SEC. The big 10 only has one. Let me put it this way for SEC fans. Imagine team A always playing team B in the SEC championship game. Every single year. That is what you have with the Michigan- OSU game.
Lastly, sure, Navy-Army is a good football game. But let's be real here. They usually are not very good.
Ohio State verse Michigan is not in the top 5, not in the top 3...it is the number 1 rivalry game. Don't believe me? Research how Columbus is before hosting this game.

"Outside of those two states, nobody cares!" Well said, Ball_Picker. As a Northern California resident, I have always enjoyed the Florida/Florida state/Miami rivalries over the years more so than this OSU/Mich game. It's the TV networks that love to shove this into our faces as being something so big the whole country wants to see it. No-sir-ee. Kinda like the nonsense NBC did signing a contract with Notre Dame resulting in shoving a bad football team into our homes every week when there are way better games that they could be showing. History and tradition be damned. Stop this madness.
