Notice that you said "within the community". That being Auburn I assume. Outside of the community it is well known he breaks rules and many coaches hate him. It's hard to like his chubby ass when all he does is swing a towel with his hat on backwards.

Jimmy- thanks for all the input you have provided in this thread. This is one of the games I have been looking at as well. The key factor for me is the departure of Gus Malzahn. I truly believe he was the real head coach of Auburn the past couple of years. I also agree that Bobby Petrino will be the HC at Auburn within a few years. We will see how Chizik is thought of after Auburn loses badly to LSU, UGA, and Bama this year.
I agree with what you are saying, but the problem is really much deeper than that. If I haven't already raised the ire of Auburn backers enough, what I'm about to say will really piss them off. Unfortunately for them, it's the truth.
When anyone hires a head football coach (at pretty much any level), that football coach has an offensive and defensive philosophy they believe it, and they sell the athletic director on that philosophy to get the job. After they are hired they get busy implementing and molding their team to fit that philosophy. Coaches don't radically change their core beliefs on what it takes to win football games every couple of years. They stick to what they believe in.
Could you imagine Mike Leach announcing that he will be implementing a smash-mouth, pro-style offense next season??? Or that Nick Saban will implement the run and shoot??? We all recognize how ridiculous and preposterous that is. But at Auburn Gene Chizik changes offensive and defensive philosophies every other year. In other words, he has no philosophy.
The real truth of the matter is that Chizik, like you eluded to in your post, is not in control of that program. He doesn't hire his offensive and defensive coordinators. Those decisions are made by people higher on the food chain than Chizik. In short, Chizik is nothing more than a figure head and a puppet. Eventually the players figure that out which is why the players don't respect him, and why Auburn has such an astonishingly high rate of attrition. The wide receivers coach Trooper Taylor has more to say about what goes on in that program than Gene Chizik.
Auburn football is a sinking ship. Fade them until further notice.

For 3 years I have been on this website telling everyone that Chizik is a clown.

Well Boom, I knew that the day he was hired, but for the most part I try to keep my posts revelant to wagering (although I am known to go off on a political rant now and again). Think about it??? Why in the world would Auburn hire a complete failure to be their head coach??? The hire made absolutely no sense. The answer is because they weren't hiring a head football coach. They were hiring a "yes" man.
Give me your honest opinion Boom. If Gene Chizik were fired tomorrow, would any other school in the country hire him - national championship and all??? I say his chances of getting a head coaching gig is about as good as Mike Shula's, which is to say he pretty much has no shot.

Absolutely not. No major program would hire him.
When Auburn hired him I myself was saying the same things. The guy just isnt a good coach. This isnt us taking a shot at the Auburn fan base.... it's just the truth.

No offense, but this ^^^ is why the books clean up on the public.
Quick question: How does West Virginia's offense have anything to do with Auburn's defense???
i had a big bet on clemson that bowl game and was laughing at how bad my bet was getting creamed. Clemson will have to show me something positive before i go back to the well. Will lay off this game for sure.

@jimmy..U cant back up anything u say.Chizik hires who he wants to and the program is in the best shape its ever been in.I cant wait until Auburn beats a subpar Clemson come Sept 1st.The fact that u think 2011 Florida is equal to 2012 is LAUGHABLE.U are saying all the experience Auburn gained last yr makes them worse? This is a National Championship program..see 2004,2010,1993,1989,1988,1987.1986,1983 and have had more undefeated teams than any team in BCS Conf since..are u still sore that Auburn came in Tuscalooser ,spotted u 24,and beat Al w Trent,Ingram,Julio?Enjoy the next few yrs w Saban,,,aL is equal to troy, jaxst academically and that stadium is Trashhh

@Jimmy-did u forget that Chizik has won a National Championship,Head coach of yr and Asst coach of yr.He was highly sought after and took the head coaching job of THE WORSE BCS program in college football and them beating Nebraska the yr after he left.Who did Auburn lose to last yr? natchamps Al,SEC champs LSU,SECeast champs GA,#5 Ark,and ACC champs Clemson...They beat@SCar (11-2).as 12pt dogs beat MissSt and Gator Bowl Champs Fla..Chizik has lost 1 game he was suppost to win-2009@Kentucky and Im not even sure Auburn was favored,He had 2 undefeated seasons as DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR so My guess is his philosophy is DEFENSE...He had 2009 Bama up against the ropes.Chizik wins the games he is suppost to win, overachieves, and IS AN EXCELLENT RECRUITER so I seriously doubt if Petrino will be the coach anytime soon. That was the talk yrs ago ,but after National Title that pretty much evaporated.Clown..coming from a clown.

I actually got my undergrad and Masters at the Capstone. You on the other hand seem to STILL be holding Cam's balls in your hand with your user name. Maybe your squad can buy another Cam soon and you can get a new user name.
Until then...I challenge you to be something better each day and have the desire to live a meaningful life.

Wareagle you are lack luster in your facts and comments. Clemson will be 3-0 going into Tallahassee and Sammy is back game 3 vs furman in his debut. Typical homer fan go ahead I am a huge Clemson fan that will play this game for one reason I like money over being a fan of a team. Clemson +13.5 at FSU through a local also locked will be my only plays on them this year. Good luck do some more research on your team it will pay off for you! Gene chizik is a clown.

I understand how you feel. We've all gotten creamed on bets before. Fortunately I had no money riding on that game, but I did have Clemson in all of my bowl pools. Had Clemson won I think I may have actually won one of those pools.
Nevertheless, this is the type of situation we are confronted with frequently as gamblers. A team has a bad outing because of matchup issues, injury issues or some combination of issues, and there is the classic over-reaction from bettors. If Auburn posed the kind of threat West Virginia did offensively, then I think your point would be more valid. But Auburn's offense is pretty much diametrically opposite.
We saw a similar type of over reaction when in '09 when Alabama opened with Virginia Tech. Covers posters were all over the Hokies because Alabama had such a poor showing in the Sugar Bowl against Utah.
With the residual bad taste you have about backing Clemson you are making a wise choice by laying off the game. Bet the games you are comfortable betting.
