MLB Top 4: Bettors beware clubs about to self-destruct

The MLB season is quickly approaching the halfway mark and with it, the July 31 trade deadline.

Trade rumors have hogged the headlines over the past week, and more than a few teams are making regular appearances in those reports.

Baseball bettors should beware of clubs about to push the plunger and blow up their roster – along with 2013’s aspirations. Players on the trading block are focused on where their next paycheck is coming from, not the next pitch, and teams can take a nose dive as the deadline draws closer.

Here are four MLB clubs who could be swinging the wrecking ball over the next month:

Philadelphia Phillies (38-42, -9.05 units)

The Phillies have been on dynamite watch around this time in each of the past three seasons. An aging roster and massive payroll haven’t produced results and Philadelphia sports fans don’t have much patience left for the franchise. Honestly, this team should have been blown up back in 2011.

Cliff Lee continues to be the big name floating around, even though the Phillies brass denies trade talks. Also cracking the rumor mills are Jonathan Papelbon, Chase Utley, Chris Young, Carlos Ruiz, and even Roy Halladay – the latter four are all free agents this winter.

Chicago White Sox (32-43, -11.92 units)

Everybody in the American League Central has a shot at the division crown this season, with Minnesota only six games back in fourth place. Everyone but the White Sox that is, according to the trade buzz coming out of the Southside.

With Chicago nine games back of the lead, it appears that the ChiSox are willing to clean house with the exceptions of starter Chris Sale and veteran slugger Paul Konerko. According to CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman, a fire sale could include names like Alex Rios, John Danks and Alexei Ramirez.

Chicago Cubs (33-44, -7.14 units)

The Cubbies are still in rebuilding mode in Year 2 under wiz kid Theo Epstein and a deconstruction of 2013’s foundation appears to be on the way, starting with ace Matt Garza. The right-hander has improved his stock with three straight solid outings and is on the radar of just about every contending club in the bigs.

Chicago is also dangling carrots like Scott Feldman, Kevin Gregg, Carlos Marmol, David DeJesus, Nate Schierholtz, and Alfonso Soriano this month. The Cubs’ July schedule has them on the West Coast for a good chunk of the month.

Milwaukee Brewers (32-45, -15.46 units)

You’d have to be drunk off your ass to be betting on the Brew Crew right now. Milwaukee has been blitzed by the injury bug all season, fielding a different lineup almost every night. Ryan Braun is out with a bum thumb and who knows what suspensions lay ahead for him in the MLB’s ongoing PED investigations.

The Brewers pitching staff could stand for a good implosion, currently touting a collective ERA of 5.00 – second worst in the majors. Ace Yovani Gallardo is their biggest card in the deck when it comes to making moves. From the sounds of it, Milwaukee is on the fence about whether or not to pack it in. But with 11 of their next 17 away from home, where the Brewers are 13-22, the decision could be clearer by mid July.

fri aug 9th was 2 - 2 .. brew and cubs won ...................... sat was 3 - 1 . wsox lost ............... sun was 0 - 4 .. all 4 of them lost .. a 4 teamer just staring at ya from the undercover covers files .. haha this piece here ? same as all the others ? just who sees ? who follows? who pounces ? now that might be the most important factor of all factors >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> WHO POUNCES ON THIS 0 - 4 (sun) PIECE BROUGHT INTO FRUTION SIMPLY BY ? SIMPLY BY BELIEVING ENOUGH TO STICK WITH IT .. right , right. yes the result will be 2 - 2 more than any other result with normal teams in any sport , ats .. these are supposed to be the bottom feeders for mlb 2013 or those appointed to have less than a real shot at making any noise in the league .. would have been a lot better if we included the team that got moved from the NL to the AL .. amazing , all day right .

mon aug 5th wsox won 8 - 1 over nyy , brew lost 4 - 2 at sf so 1 -1 on mon , other 3 teams were off .... on tues phils won over the cubs .. brew and wsox won .. so 3 - 1 for tues ... on wed cubs won over the phils , wsox swept nyy , brew won at sf .. so 3 - 1 for wed with these teams .. so these teams coming off the 1 - 14 run have now went 7 - 3 the last 3 days .. counting the phils winning today 12 - in the daytime would make the count 8 - 3 .. next up tonight >> wsox off , brew are losing 4 - 0 right now at sf in the top of the 9th inn .. so is this a good tracking visual as well as knowledge yes .. esp when you write it down what these teams do day by day .. to give you a better idea of how to gauge it on a regular .. LIKE >>> SAY SAT 4 - 0 , SUN 2 -2 , MON 1 - 2 , AND SO ON .. WRITE THEM DOWN WHERE THEY ARE UNDERNEATH EACH OTHER IN SUCCESSION.. this visual and you digesting it with all your senses separately as well as all at once will work nicely .. and you can pair any teams together as a group in whatever cat you like as well as single teams w/l >>> progress , probability .

on mon was cubs won , brew and wsox lost ... 1 - 2 on tues 3 of these teams are dogs and 1 is a fav the brew at home vs pads and the wsox are at home vs tigs .. other 2 are on the road , as dogs of course .. probable result for these 4 on tues = pass .. lol if I had to pick , I like cubs to lose the most at dbacks with corbin .. phils are a big dog at stl .. if the count finishes at 2 - 2 with these 4 then the ones that win are ___________ brew and .. is sick to even try with these .. why try .. maybe corbin throws a no hitter tonight for ariz ..

parnell blows the save for the mets .. braves win 2 - 1 .. I should not be going against my team in a big contest right .. I will try and uphold that from here on out .. the count tonight with these 4 teams on this piece is wsox lost to the 1st place tigs , sale could not save em .. cubs lead and brew is down right now .. I am in incognito on this thread right .. lol express yourself .. everything is always leading up to something in life .. I dodged a hit with the mets tonight .. I can thank Teddy for not getting the mets in in time .. he was working out with me .. thanks Teddy ! ;) time , tick tock .. 7:___

first night of the 2nd half of the season <> cubs won as a road dog , phils won as a road dog , brew won 2 - 0 as a home fav .. wsox lost in IL play as a home dog against the braves .. so these 4 teams start out 3 - 1 for the 2nd half mlb . tonight ? peavy going for the wsox , should be worth the price of admission seeing what he will do ..

to be clearer , 3 of these teams listed beat me on tues night .. how is that ? they stink for real ? or do people just always jump to conclusions because of what they witness early on .. can a man really change from april to july ? haha j/k is same ole . but jumping out there in baseball saying a team doesnthave it ? is very iffy.. you are trying to state the obvious of what the majority feel .. but this is baseball , I don't se LeBron , kobe , or even shaq n nkenny out there ..(I not leaving you out sir Charles , haha , weight loss? you a baaad maaan ! :) lmao .. no peyton , no waler p , who is going to take over man / this is a team game with more components that sears and jcpenny . k ?

as crazy as it might seem on how I just came across about tues night results through the first 11 games , steaming mad right .. the w vs off the l stand at 8 - 2 , the only 2 no good taking w off team off the loss is tigs , jays . so did you pick the right strat ? or did you play this cat . w vs off l ? if you did ?you supersede/bypass bs results like the tigs losing at home to the wsox .. amazing is not the word I know . is pure savvy . did I play it ? I got hit by angels ,tigs , reds . tracker style ? the straight up cat of take team off w vs l was in a good spot and due .. so who are the 3 left fitting this criteria ? you would have the rocks , mets , mariners as plays still going ..
