Mathieu Perreault's second-period power-play goal held up as the winner as the host Winnipeg Jets held on for a 2-1 win over the Calgary Flames on Saturday night in a clash of Western Conference division leaders.

Connor Hellebuyck made 27 saves, including 14 in the third period, to record the victory for Winnipeg, which has won two straight games.

Hellebuyck had some good fortune, too, as Calgary's Johnny Gaudreau twice rang shots off the post and Mark Jankowski drilled the crossbar -- all in the opening frame.

With the score tied midway through the game, Perreault notched his 14th goal of the season during a four-minute power play. Flames goalie Mike Smith couldn't gain possession of a loose puck and Perreault was on the spot amidst the scramble for the man-advantage marker.

Winnipeg's Mark Scheifele opened the scoring with nine seconds left in the opening period. After Scheifele cleanly won the face-off in Calgary territory, Ben Chiarot drove down the wing and sent a cross-ice pass that left him with a tap-in tally for his 34th of the season.

The Flames -- who played the night before at home -- had been controlling play in the opening period, holding the hosts to just one shot on goal during a 15-minute span.

Jankowski gained back that goal with the team's league-high 17th short-handed goal 7:16 into the second period. He finished a tic-tac-toe passing play with Elias Lindholm and Mark Giordano during an odd-man rush. Five of Jankowski's 11 goals this season have come while penalty killing.

Smith made 19 saves for the Flames, who saw their three-game winning streak snapped. Calgary won the first two meetings of the season.

The Flames played without top-line center Sean Monahan due to illness and winger Sam Bennett due to an upper body injury. They dressed seven defensemen and 11 forwards.

The Jets played a ninth consecutive game without defensemen Dustin Byfuglien, Josh Morrissey and Joe Morrow.
