Georgia running back D'Andre Swift broke a scoreless stalemate with a 39-yard touchdown run with about six minutes to go in the third quarter, and the No. 10 Bulldogs went on to upend visiting Kentucky 21-0 on a rain-soaked Saturday in Athens, Ga.

Swift's run came after Kentucky punter Max Duffy shanked a 15-yard punt, giving Georgia its best field position of the game at the 39. Swift got into the end zone with 6:20 to go in the quarter, and he would cap the Bulldogs' scoring with a 3-yard touchdown run with 6:24 left in the game. He finished with 21 carries for a season-best 179 yards.

Georgia's defense would set up the offense for a second score in the third quarter, when safety J.R. Reed forced a fumble by quarterback Lynn Bowden that Richard LeCounte recovered just outside the Wildcat 30. Georgia needed five plays to go 31 yards, capped by an 8-yard run by Brian Herrien for a 14-0 lead.

Thanks to the play of the defense, that would be more than enough for the Bulldogs (6-1, 3-1 SEC) to secure the win as Kentucky managed just 177 total yards -- only 17 through the air. The Wildcats completed only two of 16 pass attempts.

Georgia quarterback Jake Fromm didn't do much better. Although he completed 9 of 12 passes, the Bulldog junior threw for a career-low 35 yards as the rain played a big role. Herrien rushed for 60 yards on 13 carries.

Fans hoping for a little offense despite the nasty conditions came to the wrong place.

Georgia and Kentucky combined for 13 punts, with the Wildcats (3-4, 1-4) managing just 55 yards in the first half.

The Bulldogs were held to just 123 first-half yards, 81 by Swift as the teams went into half with no score. It marked the first time a Georgia game has gone into halftime scoreless since a 1991 contest against Alabama.

The Bulldogs finished with 270 yards.
