RECAP - 04/05/12 - My selection were doing pretty well on 04/05/12 until the big game between SJ and LA in the late night finale. Still, I had a great day and many of my selections (and suggested PASS games) were spot on. Walk of Shame picks for last posting included... The Flyers/Sabres 1st Period Over-1.5 Failed and the Kings lost in a SO with the Under-5 as a loser. Too many Walk of Fames selections to list... Including my Stunner of NY winning as a dog in DET.
I had only one parlay winner that was posted (post #51) in my last thread but it was a 21x my wager winner. It was a mixed sports FPF parlay.
I also hit a 2, 3 and two 6 pick parlays on the first full slate of Opening Day games in MLB which I had posted in Covers MLB Forum. It was a great day.
I do not post much at all in the Covers MLB forum... Nothing compares to the NHL Forum here... Thanks to all the great guys that posts here on Covers NHL Forum.
If you care enough to wanna see... You can view my last NHL thread from 04/05/12 right here...
I am surprised to have time to post this morning as I did not expect to have any time to do this... So I will try with limited writeups for today, Saturday, April 7th, 2012...

CAUTION :There are many semi-meaningless games today but if you look closely you can find a few Gems in the rough... I will try and post some thought for EVERY game being played but will try and limit my writeups to fewer words and stats than I normally do. I'll also throw in my MLB selections at the end of my NHL suggestions.
Note: I am NOT some kind of Guru or betting mastermind...
I just call em as I see em and go for the throat with multi-pick parlays to go with my straight wager selections.

Buffalo at Boston(-160) - The Bruins showed in thier last game that they are not tossing in the towel on the regular season by winning at OTT with the Bruins starting what amounts to thier 4th string goalie...Khudobin. He played well and allowed only one goal to the Sens who had something to play for. In todays game, The Bruins will likely start Tim Thomas in the crease and Patrice Bergeron and Zdeno Chara are also expected to play according to the Bruins head coach. Thomas is 3-0-0 with a 2.42 GAA and a .906 SV% in four appearences vs Buffalo this season. Covers Starting Goalie Thread Guru, Weeble5672list Enroth as the probable starter for Buffalo who was eliminated in a loss at Philadelphia on Thursday. The Sabres also sent F-Marcus Foligno and F-Corey Tropp back to Rochester of the AHL... We could see a mellowed down version of the Sabres in todays game... which would be just fine with the Bruins... and ME... Even IF Miller were to go for Buffalo I like the Bruins here to tune up for the upcoming playoffs so I'm suggesting a play on Boston(-160) of RegTime(+103)... Not worth a risk on the O/U in my opinion.

Pulling Hard for Minnesota to help out and beat the Yotes in RegTime... and also for the Kings to get in done in Silicon Valley. I'd really like to see LA as the 3rd seed and finally as Division Champs... Enjoy the Game USCDieHard

Ottawa at NewJersey(-135) NY has won in L-5 including a 2-1 road win at Detroit in thier L-game. Marty and company has allowed just six goals and scored 18 during thier 5 game winning streak. The Sens have not played well in thier last few games and lost 1-2 and 1-3 in thier L-2 games with both being at home while in a playoff race. NewJersey seems commited to keeping thier winning ways going strong and showed it by virtue of thier hard fought road win vs that determined Wings team. I like Marty Brodeur and his boyZ to continue to do just that again today so I suggest a nice play on NewJersey(-135) at a nice price for them at home. The UNDER-5.5 for this game also will see some action from me today and I suggest it as well for others who are interested. NJ is 7-1 in the L-8 meetings in the swamps of NJ.

Chicago at Detroit - PASS on ALL Here - Thrends say Chicago but Detroit is still playing to try and get a 4th seed while avoiding a potential slip into the 6th seed. Hard to predict who will decide on how to play this depending on what the teams really want. It would make sence to value the 6th seed more than the 5th and 4th here if you ask most people because the 6th seed gets the winner of the Pacific division which is still undecided but will be either PHX, LA or SJ by the end of the day. They could be slightly softer opponents than would be Nashville who currently sits in the 4th seed slot. With all that is or is not at stake here... I recommend that youPASSon this game unless you are a die hard fan of either team or have a Physic Friends Network buddy who knows the winner already. I might include a play in a longshot parlay but that is all I'd do with the game. The total is also of NO interest to me here. PASS on All Here.

Philadelphia at Pittsburgh - Philly has not lost in Pittsburgh in some time now but this is an absolutely meaningless game as far as the outcome is concerned. These teams would be wise to avoid any key injuries to star players since this IS the matchup in the upcoming playoffs. There is bad blood here but to risk any potential suspensions would also be foolish. The ONLY plays that MIGHT be considered by me would be the 1st Period OVER-1.5 goals... and the OVER-5.5 goals for the full game IF you can get it at that... It is posted as an o/u-6 on Covers... so maybe just stick with the 1st period play on the Over-1.5 goals.... But as for a side... I recommend that this be just a PASS on any selections.

Anahiem(+120) at Calgary - I like the Ducks as the dog play here. They have been playing hard in every game despite being OUT of the playoff picture for some time now. I can't say the same for Calgary who is just 2-4-4 in thier L-10 which came during a supposed playoff push by them. Some people might dispute this but I think the Ducks have a good team and one which is certainly better than Calgary in my opinion. I know all about the Teemu retiring thing but that does not concern me here. I like the risk on a solid dog like Anahiem. I have no interest in the total here. Ducks(+120) for the small upset(?).

Washington at NYRangers - This game has meaning for both of these teams but absolutely NONE to me. I have zero interest in trying to figure out who will or will not play hard in this game. Be my guest and go for what you know. I'll just PASS on ALL Selections here and attack elsewhere in games that have more solid footing with the teams playing and thier recent motivation that they have displayed.

Toronto(+110) at Montreal - From NHL.com - "Puck Drop: Both teams have been led in the crease lately by unlikely sources. Since being called up last week, Ben Scrivens has gone 2-0-1 for the Leafs, making 103 saves in those three games. Budaj hasn't been too shabby either since Price was shut down for the season, starting the last three games and going 1-0-2 with a .936 save percentage."
I will make a small dog play on the Leafs(+110) in this one. The teams have a long offseason which begins as soon as this game ends... and the Leafs have shown SOME resolve in trying to win games recently so as a dog they are worth a small play from me here. The UNDER-5.5 Goals for the full game is also a nice option that I'll give a small play to.

TampaBay at Winnipeg(-145) - THIS IS THE GAME OF THE DAY in my opinion. I love the Jets at home here vs a TB team playing in its 5th game in 8 nights. TB looked tired in its L-2 games losing both on the road to the Habs and Leafs. Yes I hope Stamkos gets his 60th but NOT if it will cost me a win here... and I don't think that it will. Gimmie the Jets(-145) all day in this game. However I do not like the total set at O/U-6 or when offered at O/U-5.5(-150) so I will pass on any total selections.

NYIslanders(+105) at Columbus - I like the Islanders as a small dog play here. Both teams are 6-4-0 in thier L-10 games and I doubt that Nash will see a ton of ice time in this finale. Columbus called up F-Maksim Mayorov for this game from Springfield in the AHL. The Islanders(+105) have shown some success this season and this is the kind of game that Columbus might not be able to get fired up as much for as they have for bigger name opponents. I have little interest in the Total of O/U-5.5 goals but might make a play for the Under-5.5 goals in a parlay.

Carolina(+155) at Florida - I'll risk a small dog play on Carolina(+155) here. They are 6-3-1 in thier L-10 while the mighty Panthers of Florida are 2-3-5 in thier L-10 which all came as they tried to earn a playoff spot... They did manage to earn one during a 2 goal loss to the Caps in thier L-game but that was because Philly beat Buffalo which helped out the lame, sick, cats from FLA. I have no interest in any total play for this game. Florida could continue its BACK DOOR SUCCESS with a Rangers win over the Caps today... It would give FLA thier division even if they LOSE vs the Canes.
From NHL.com -
Stat Pack: Carolina's shootout win was its first in seven tiebreakers this season. The 'Canes avoided becoming the second team in the seven years of the shootout to go a full season without a victory. The '06-07 'Canes went 0-6. … The Panthers have equaled the NHL record for most post-regulation losses; Tampa Bay dropped 18 games that went beyond 60 minutes in 2008-09.
Puck Drop:The Panthers will begin their game about an hour after Washington's game begins in New York, so the players and fans will have a pretty good idea of what has to happen for Florida to win the division.

Phoenix at Minnesota - The Wild have done well lately and played the spoiler role to almost perfection. For that reason I like the Under in this game but do expect PHX to find a way to win which would clinch the Pacific division and the 3rd seed in the Western Conference. However I am rooting for a PHX loss in RegTime to allow a chance for the Kings to steal that slot by winning later on at SanJose. So the suggested play for this game from me is on the UNDER-5 goals but only as a small play or maybe just on a parlay. Most people can be expected to bet big on PHX here and I would not blame them... I just can't root for them to win tonight. NOTE: MIN Defenseman Nate Prosser will be suspended for this game(1-Game suspension).

St.Louis at Dallas - I have NO interest in this game BUT I'd like those who do to NOTE: Dallas has called up one forward and two defensemen from Texas of the AHL... I would expect them to see some kind of ice time in this game. Maybe a ML play on STL in a parlay.
