BD the line looks too good to be true IMO...a blatant attempt to pick my pocket and make Pittsburgh look like a steal...should be a fun one to watch in any case but much funner to win some money on as well. BOL...

The game is in Cle. What do you think the line should be?
I am on CLE but just don't think the line is off at all. I'm on cleveland because of psychological reasons favoring them and against pitt. Both horrendous coaches at adjustments and xo's facing off on a thursday lol.

Considering what has transpirted in the past month, I wouldn't have been surprised if Pitts was not favored...for the Cleveland Browns to be favored is a troll for Pittsburgh money IMO and the books are getting it...books take a stand on a line too if they think they have the better of it as quiet as it is kept.
With an opener of Cleveland -3, which side would you expect to be pounded considering what each team has done in the last month? If you answered the Browns then it is boop wrong answer.
Betting lines are not made to reflect the relative strengths and weaknesses of teams but are made for public perception...the public perception is that despite squeaking out a hard fought victory against the Bills that the Browns still suck donkey dongs (they have raped bettors for months now) and the Steelers are some kind of superment.
Pittsburgh is 4-0-1 ATS the last 5...and now they are dogs??? That should set off a red light in your mind but of course it doesn't.

Books love putting -2.5 at -120 if possible... so now everyone on favorite is at -120 or moneyline and everyone on Pitt is at -120 to -130 for the +3

Linemakers have power ratings... and then HFA are the main factors that go into setting the line.

I think some of what your saying about public perception is true but I also think the line is where it should be. My numbers pin the spread for this game at 3, so while my initial take was that it is an odd line, to me it is actually where it should be. Now you take the coaching, situation and all that into consideration. To me this game sucks, I want to bet it but I'm thinking that it might be better to sit it out or find a nice prop. Maybe a defensive touchdown?

I agree with all of this for the most part. My only concern is this line seems like deja vu all over again from last week vs Bills. Did they blow their wad covering as a fave already? I mean when is the last time Cleveland covered back to back games as a somewhat unexpected fave? It's gotta be decades ago. This line could very well be the ol double reverse mind screw. lol

Hmmm... might be a valid point but still going the Browns...keys for me are Kareem Hunt and his production and also how Mason Rudolph will handle the pressure of his second road start. If Haden can't go due to illness, this could be huge IMO.

Pitts is the public dog of the week IMO...the Pats might be the public favorite of the week along with Baltimore???

I like the Texans too this week...should be a real barn burner of a game pal.

For what it's worth, no team coming back from playing in London won or covered their next game. Baltimore is one of the best teams in the league right now too.

Bob Scucci who along with Joe Lupo set the opening lines for the now defunct Stardust (RIP) in Vegas used to say 'the linesmaker handicaps public perception'...I never heard it put so concisely before...it is one powerful statement. BOL slushie007...should be a fun game to watch.
