So Jamie doesnt want the administration looking under the hood and seeing the real truth about the deception and cheating banks did to rake in those excess profits during the boom.

For sure, but his comments speak volumes..he is hanging the "principal reduction" carrot in front of Obama and threatening to thwart it if they look deeper.
I imagine the investigation has been quite muted as to what it could be.

ya think?
how many people have been thrown in jail so far?
Let us just be glad that Obama has started yet another bureau to help solve this problem, The Financial crisis Inquiry commission or something like that. They will solve these problems for certain
Unless, the banks write the laws and the gov and banks are married to one another as they have the same interests, then nothing changes and any additional laws will likely benefit these crooks more than they benefit the citizenry

It is interesting seeing Jamie show his "evil" side like this, its just a little glimpse of what control he has over the process. If Obama had any backbone he would directly respond to that and push the knife in even more..
You are correct though, business owns our political system and our politicians are slaves to the capitalist system.

replace capitalist with fascist system, and we can agree to agree
in order for this to be a capitalist system, we would have to know what capital is, but even though you never participate in those type of threads, go look at the one i started where i asked people to define capital, and see the answers
people conflate land with capital in this system, that is the pure opposite of a Capitalist system
you want to blame something, so that we can address the problem and move forward with solutions, blame the advent of neoclassical economics. ask yourself why there was a change a century ago from classic to neoclassic economics. who does it benefit, and you will find the answers you long for

oh dear lord...these terms are not compatiable
In economics, regulatory capture occurs when a state
regulatory agency created to act in the public interest instead
advances the commercial or special interests that dominate the industry
or sector it is charged with regulating. Regulatory capture is a form of
government failure, as it can act as an encouragement for large firms to produce negative externalities. The agencies are called "captured agencies".

I use the term lightly and you both know I am referring to our current economic system.
be easy, I steer clear of your land threads because of how angry you became when I shot holes through the whole concept and how it has absolutely zero chance of common application to a large country like ours. So instead of getting you more pissed off I just avoid it all together. If you were able to debate and disagree without making it personal (bashing me about my house, stock trades etc etc) then maybe I might participate more.

As usual we view things from a different perspective. You look at it from the "bad government" angle, I look at it as the private sector corrupting the government..big difference. I also view it as inherent to the nature of our species..that greed destroys everything including government..it is also unavoidable and will be what eventually brings an end to the Christian view of the world.

private sector corrupting the government..big difference -------------- which = bad government
chicken or the egg. we make the same points, yet have different ways of getting there
The difference is you want to dismantle the government because of your conclusion, I on the other hand want to rid the government of the leech which is the private sector.

once you realize the path to this utopia is to rid the government of their power we will see it eye to eye
funny how you refer to the leech as the private sector when it is the government, on every level, who provides services that the market does not demand forcing us to pay for it and yet the private productive citizen is the leech
